在佛罗里达国际大学，主要在对原子相干和干涉以及冷原子相关的应用等方面做出了杰出的成果；发展了一系列的用于研究自由空间和光腔中冷原子，比如铷原子等的实验技术；在这个前沿的研究领域做出了重要贡献。最值得一提的工作包括首次证实了EIT三光子激发和吸收光开关；首次观察到大的克尔非线性性和在慢光层次上的交叉相位调制；首次实验研究了慢光的六波混频；在一个可控的能量密度（大约每个原子横截面10-5个光子）上实现了全光开关；观察到了腔助暗态和慢光现象。
