一、理解是翻译的前提
The Rose这首英语歌词分三节，每一节八行，前六行明显在铺陈，后两行明显在推出歌曲的高潮，深刻表达自己对“爱”的观点。

第一节前八行，it is a river that drowns the tender reed这个句子中，有一个定语从句，说的基本意思是“河流淹没了水草”。

好多同学没有理解这个句子，有人竟然翻译为“有人说爱是淹没在温
柔芦苇中的小河”，出现了明显的理解错误。

第二句话it is a razor that leaves your soul to bleed的基本意思是“是剃刀留下了灵魂
在滴血”，这个句子中，理解的要点是leave这个单词，是“使”的
意思，字面意思能够翻译为“留下”。

上面译文中，用“丢下”略显
突兀。

最后，you its only seed是一个省略句，省略了系动词are。

省略是诗歌中经常采用的方式，目的是要使各个句子节奏整齐。

同时only是“”的意思，这个句子的意思是说“你就是那的种子”。

所以，陕西一位梁兰琼同学提供的整个译文很精彩，但是她就把这个句子翻
译为“而你，仅仅花的种籽”，用了一个“仅仅”，明显改变了句子
的意思，所以不太妥帖。

第二节中间八行，沿用的仍然是大量定语从句，比较好理解。

但是，在It's the one who won't be taken, who cannot seem to
give这个句子中，因为有双重否定，导致了很多同学在翻译的时候出。
