Rob Frenette had problems with bullies(欺辱)atschool for eleven years. He was often lonelyand scared. Whenhe wasfifteen, however,hedecided to do somethingabout his problems. Hewalked intoanewspaper office and told them aboutthe bullying. Hisstory went into the newspaperand soon all theTVstationsin Canadawanted to talkto him abouthis experiences. They alsowanted to hear his ideas to stop bullying.
After that,Rob continued hisstudiesatschool, butin his fre etime hehelped otherpeoplewithbullyingproblems. With a friend KatieNeu,he made a website calledwww. Bullyingcanada.ca.Visitors to the website can find advice,stories andpoems about bullying, in both Englis hand French. When peopleareupset,they can talkon the phone or online to Rob and his team. Every weekend Rob has to answer e-mails tothe website. He also speaks to children,teachers and membersof governmentaroundthe country about bullying.
Rob’s most important message is: “When bulliesare unkind to you,itisn’t your fault. There’s nothing wrong withyou, so you should try to keep trusting yourself. And rememberthatpeoplecare aboutyour problems. You just haveto find those people.”
Oneof Rob’s ideas is “Blue Day”, a specialday forstoppingbullying in schools.Students havetowear blueclothes andin class they lea rnhow tostopbullying.More than 150 Canadian schools now celebrateBlue Day, butRob won’t stop until there’s a Blue Day in everyschool in Canada.
