competition 比赛 compete v. 竞争 compete with sb.
neat 整齐的 tidy
path 小路,小径 wooden 木头的
wood n. 木头 pool 水池
happy → happier → happiest
大部分双音节词和所有多音节词 在原级前加more构成比 较级,加most构成最高级。
dangerous → more dangerous→ the most dangerous
二、 不规则变化 有一些词的比较级、最高级变化是不规则 的,需要特殊记忆。

形容词最高级 (最……) ➢The + 形容词est

enter for… 报名参加 (竞赛,考试等) eg. enter for a test, enter for a speech contest

形容词比较级
bigger, smaller, warmer, happier (更加…) be larger than, be happier than (与…相比,更…)
Grammar points
形容词比较级、最高级的构成 一、 规则变化 单音节词和少数双音节词
high→higher→highest 以e结尾的词,直接加-r 或-st。 large→larger→largest “2辅夹1元” 双写加 -er或-est
big→bigger→biggest
以“辅音字母 + y”结尾的词,先变 “y”为 “i”,再加-er 或 -est。
