关于选拔赴新加坡国立大学交换学生的通知根据《山东大学与新加坡国立大学学生交换计划协议书》,我校今年将选派2名学生赴新加坡国立大学留学一个学期。

项目有关事项如下:一、项目介绍1、入学日期:2007年2 月下旬2、学习专业:可根据对方的专业设置及英文授课课程选学与自己专业相近的课程,网址:.sg3、授课语言:英语4、学分认定:交换学生在该校参加所修课程的考试,由该校提供考试成绩报告单,我校依据成绩单并按本校规定给予学分。

二、选派数额:2名三、相关费用1、新加坡国立大学免收交换生的学费,其他费用如注册费、住宿费、生活费、学生活动费、出国手续费、健康医疗保险费用及国际旅费等由学生自理。

四、报名1.报名条件:(1)全日制04、05级本科生。

(不含口腔医学、法学、医学、建筑学专业)(2)身体健康,能圆满完成学习任务。

(3)学习成绩优秀,平均分数不低于 70 分;或成绩为专业前1/3(4)有较高的英语水平。

教务处二〇〇六年九月三十日Non-graduating StudentsStudent Exchange ProgrammeOverviewEligibilityThe National University of Singapore [NUS] has established an agreement or memorandum of understanding [MOU] for student exchange programmes [SEP] with partner universities on an equal exchange-basis. The SEP at NUS is administered by the NUS Registrar's Office [RO]. The University's SEP partner universities are listed on the NUS Homepage at .sg/SEP.Only exchange students of these SEP partner universities will be eligible to apply for admission as an Exchange Student of NUS on a non-graduating [NG] basis.Exchange students from SEP partner universities admitted as NG Exchange Students of NUS may pursue:a. undergraduate or graduate course-work, where they are permitted toparticipate in the practical components (e.g. tutorials, laboratories, fieldwork, etc.) of the modules/courses; &/orb. graduate research, where they will be supervised for the period of research. The mode and duration of the SEP may be for:a. course-work for a semester or an academic year (2 semesters);b. research for periods of 17-weeks each; orc. a period as agreed with the SEP Partner University or under the SEP MOU. Only candidates, who have been admitted to Semester 1 &/or Semester 2 and already issued the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority [ICA] SP may apply to extend their registration.University CalendarThe academic year is from end-July until beginning-May of the next calendar year. There are 13 teaching weeks, followed by 1 week for revision and 2 weeks for examinations. There is a 10-week vacation between academic years.The University Calendar, which shows the semesters, recesses, examinations, vacations and holidays, is on the RO's Homepage at .sg/registrar.ModularizationThe Faculties of Arts & Social Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering and Science, as well as the Department of Building and Department of Real Estate of the School of Design & Environment have modularized their course-work and conduct modules.The Faculties of Dentistry, Law and Medicine, as well as the Department of Architecture of the School of Design & Environment, however, have not modularised their course-work, and, therefore, only conduct courses.Unless the Faculty/School is fully modularised, exchange students from SEP partner universities will only benefit from attending a course in both Semesters 1 and 2. Module descriptionThe University's Handbooks lists out and give a description of the respective modules under the various programmes. Handbooks should answer most academic enquiries and should be available at your university. Further details should be obtained from the web pages of the appropriate Faculty/School or on the NUS Homepage at .sg.You may also refer to the NUS Bulletin Online: please refer to .sg/registrar/ for the link.Practical ComponentNG Exchange Students are permitted to participate in the practical component (e.g. tutorials, laboratory, fieldwork, etc.) of the modules they are enrolled for during the semester. (Please note that any travel and accommodation costs associated with fieldwork or fieldtrips are to be borne by the student.)Prior to selecting modules, all NG Exchange Students pursuing course-work must check the examination time table for each module and note the examination dates for the modules they are enrolled for during the semester. If there is a clash in the examination time for 2 modules they wish to take, they are not allowed to take both the modules and have to decide between the two as no arrangements will be made for students to sit for examinations which clash. The examination timetable is available at the websites/office of the appropriate Faculty, School, Department,Centre or ProgrammeThe University's Calendar on the RO Homepage at .sg/registrar also shows the examination periods. The examination results are scheduled for issue as follows:Semester 1:end-JanuarySemester 2:end-JuneThe notification of examination results with the grades received, will be sent to each NG Exchange Student taking the University's examinations. Carefully retain the notification and make certified true copies for future use.A set of the examination results and grading will be sent (unless otherwise arranged with the Administrator)to the "Coordinator Student Exchanges" at the home university for credit transfer purposes.Certificates and transcripts are currently not issued to NG Students and their personal file is only retained up to the statutory retention period.Financial Resources & paymentFinancial assistance is not available for NG Students. They are, therefore, responsible for their personal and living expenses, and must be able to finance the period of their stay in Singapore.NG Students are advised to arrange their financial resources well in advance of their arrival in Singapore to ensure that they have sufficient funds in Singapore dollars [S$] to bear any initial personal and living expenses.NG Exchange Students may have to meet financial obligations, if any, in accordance with the SEP MOU and bear any other charges and expenses. Please check with the appropriate SEP authority at your home university. However, all academic and administrative fees at NUS are waived for NG Exchange Students.ApplicationPeriodApplications to pursue undergraduate or graduate course-work may be made during 2 periods each year. The first (from January to mid-May) is for admission to the entire academic year or only Semester 1, while the second (from July to mid-October) is foradmission to only Semester 2. Applications to pursue graduate research should be made at least 2 months before the commencement of the period of research. Selection of Modules & WorkloadThe modules selected should express a student’s academic interest and be relevant to their educational background or field of study.Candidates choosing modules from the School of Business (BIZ), the Centre for Language Studies (CLS), Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) and the Centre for English Language Communication (CELC) and the School of Computing (SoC) must note that they will not be allowed to audit any of these modules. Modules from the Centre for Financial Engineering are not open to exchange student.Non-Graduating Students who are going to study at NUS for 2 semesters or more are only allowed to take Business modules in one semester only, regardless of the number of Business modules taken during that one semester.The Business School will host exchange students for internship ONLY when the MOU with the exchange partner university includes internship as part of the exchange program. Business exchange students who are keen to do internship are required to check with their home university on the exchange agreement.Those choosing modules in the Faculty of Law and whose academic background & medium of instruction was not in the English language should submit the following asevidence of their English language proficiency:a. Test of English as a Foreign Language [TOEFL] score of at least:(i) 600 for the paper-based test; or(ii) 250 for the computer-based test; orb. International English Language Testing System [IELTS] result of at least 6.5; orc. such other qualifications as determined by the Faculty of Law.These candidates may also be subject to a telephone interview.To qualify as a full-time student, a NG Exchange Student must enrol for a minimum of 3 modules per semester or a comparable full-time research workload. The average workload varies with each Faculty/School and ranges between 4 to 6 modules per semester. A student may select in order of preference a maximum of:a. 6 modules per semester; orb. 12 modules for the entire academic year.NG Students should take into account that over the 13 teaching weeks each module may:a. average about 3 contact hours per week (lecture and tutorial);b. require preparation time; andc. include other practical components (laboratory work, field trips, etc.)Online Applications, Application Form, Supporting Documents & Due Dates Via Online ApplicationsTo make an online application, please go to : Online Application FormPlease note the closing dates for submitting an online application:Semester 1 : May 1Semester 2 : October 15After submitting an online application, please submit by mail, the following within 2 weeks:The print out of the online application form.A photograph glued on the first page of the application form.The original of the following supporting documents, in English. If not, an English translation of the contents must be attached. Only 1 copy of the following supporting documents, where applicable, is required:a. transcript of academic record at the home university (to determine theacademic suitability for modules at NUS);b. letter from the home university stating the candidate is required to sit forexaminations and the credits earned at NUS will be accepted by the home university;c. particulars page of passport(to determine that the candidate's nationalityis not restricted by the ICA - applications from nationals restricted by the ICA must be submitted at least 10 weeks before the commencement of the semester); andd. TOEFL score/IELTS/GMAT result.Each supporting document should be a "CERTIFIED TRUE COPY". Any responsible person in a position of authority (e.g. school principal, officer, manager, etc.) may make the certification. There is no application fee required.Mailing Instructions & Due DatesThe Application Form should be submitted through the appropriate SEP Coordinator at the SEP Partner University for transmission to the NUS RO. For faculty-level SEP, the Application Form may be sent directly to the Coordinator's counterpart in NUS (Faculty/School SEP Administrators are listed at Section 7). The due dates for applications for admission as NG Exchange Students to pursue course-work are:These due dates will be adhered to strictly. No late applications will be entertained. This is to allow sufficient time for evaluation of applications and transmission of offers of admission to foreign-domiciled candidates to make their travel arrangements to Singapore. The start of Semester 1 and Semester 2 coincides with the peak travel periods.There is no due date for applications to pursue research. However, this should be made at least 2 months before the commencement of the period of research. AdmissionOfferAdmission of exchange students from SEP partner universities is not automatic. Successful candidates are admitted as NG Exchange Students of NUS at the appropriate Faculty, School, Department, Centre or Programme.The NUS RO will send the letter of offer and admissions package to successful candidates (NG Exchange Students are exempted from submitting the Acceptance of Offer [AOO] form and fee).The admission package contains details on enrolment, registration and other matters of concern to NG Exchange Students. Some of these are included in the latter sections of this document for your information.Conditions of AdmissionAdmission is subject to conditions specified in these Notes for Application and in the letter of offer of admission. Breach of any of these conditions may result in the termination of a NG Exchange Student's admission to NUS.NG students cannot be employed in Singapore, as it has personnel and manpower implications.Student CategoriesA candidate offered admission to the NUS on a NG basis would be registered as a NG Student in one of the following categories:a. NG Exchange Student– on a SEP MOU established with a Partner University topursue undergraduate/graduate modules or research.b. NG Non-exchange Students– on a fee-paying basis to pursue undergraduate/graduate modules/courses.c. NG Mandarin Language Students– on a fee-paying basis to pursue only theIMLP at the CLS.FeesCandidates admitted as Non-Graduating Exchange students are exempted from paying tuition and/or research fees at NUS. However, upon accepting the offer of admission, please note that a Student's Activity and Services Fee of $56.70 is payable.
