一、Sun-hee, Claudia, and Tara are preparing to go to Mexico for a vacation. While Sun-hee is talking to Mike on the phone, Claudia and Tara have some trouble preparing for the trip. First, Tara can’t find her bag and then Claudia doesn’t know where her ticker is. But Sun-hee is totally relaxed because she has already finished getting ready. Sun-hee tells Mike about all the errands she had to do earlier that day. She had to confirm her flight, get traveler’s checks, change her voice-mail message, and pay the bills. Finally, Tara and Claudia are ready to go and Sun-hee checks to be sure they have everything. However, after they leave, Sun-hee soon comes running back in. Why? She forgot to take her ticket and passport.
二、It’s a very hot day and Takeshi comes home to find Mike using his imagination to stay coll. Mike tries to teach Takeshi how to imagine at the beach. Mike even wants to have a barbecue, but Takeshi tells Mike he’s not allowed to use a grill in the apartment. When Takeshi asks where the water for the beach is, mike sprays Takeshi with water and tells him to “feel the ocean mist.” Takeshi gets angry and says, “Mike, that’s for spraying plants, not me!” then, Mike pretends to use an ironing board for surfing even though Takeshi tells him not to. So, Takeshi decides to try using his imagination and says, “Watch out for that wave” as he throws water all over Mike. Mike isn’t too happy, but Takeshi thinks it’s pretty funny.
三、Claudia and Roberto are talking about Roberto’s new job. Roberto is excited, but he’s nervous about learning a new software program.Claudia tells him not to worry and says she’ll help him learn it. Then Roberto asks Claudia if she might get promoted soon because her boss was transferred Claudia says that getting promoted is not big deal. She explains that her goal is to quit someday and relax. Roberto, however, says his life is planned already,right up to retirement. He thinks it’s important to have well-defined goals but Claudia sys that Roberto should keep his options open, and “go with the flow.” Roberto agrees, but only if the “flow “follows his plan.
四、Sun-hee doesn’t feel well, so Tara asks Takeshi and Mike to come over. When they arrive, Takeshi asks Sun-hee how she is feeling.Sun-hee says she’s very tired, a littl e dizzy, and that she might even have a fever. Tara then explains that Sun-hee has also been very anxious about a meeting with the president of her university. Mike tells Sun-hee to eat something, but she says, “I can’t eat. I’m not hungry.” Then the phone rings. It’s the president’s secretary. She tells Tara to tell Sun-hee that tonight’s meeting has been canceled. When Sun-hee gets the news, she starts to feel much better and
says, “It must be a miracle or something.” But her friends know it’s not a miracle. She was just really nervous about the meeting!
五、Takeshi get a letter from the Columbia graduate School. While Sun-hee and Mike wait for him to come home, they talk about Takeshi’s plans for grad school. Takeshi applied to several graduate programs, but two schools have already rejected him! Mike says that Takeshi is going to hit the road if he doesn’t get accepted. When Takeshi gets home, he explains that if he doesn’t get accepted, he’s going to travel for a while and then he’ll apply to graduate school again. He also says that if he is accepted, he’s gong to become a film director. Takeshi finally opens the letter-and it’s good news! Takeshi is gong to go to grad school Columbia!
六、Roberto and Mike are in a restaurant. A woman is talking loudly on a cell phone. Roberto says, “I can’t stand cell phones.” Mike says he avoids taking calls in public unless it’s very important. But then Mike’s father calls to give Mike his new cell phone number. While they are talking, Mike’s mother calls on the other line. She starts to ask Mike to take a message, so he connects his mother and father. At that point, the same woman who was talking so loud on her phone earlier says to Mike, “Do you mind?” then she turns to her friend and says the same thing Roberto said. “I can’t stand cell phones-especially in public places!”。
