7. Look at the following chart on a financial report of a Chinese advertising agency, Deguang. Write a passage based on this chart. You may begin your passage with “The company’s net income increased considerably during the 1990s”.
Deguang Inc. Net Income 1991-2000
The company’s net income increased considerably during the 1990s. However, during the early 90s, growth was very slow. This was because most of the agency’s clients were Chinese companies, and the Chinese economy grew a bit slowly during the first half of the decade. The net income actually fell by ¥4m from ¥25m to ¥21m in 1992, and there was only a slight rise during the period 1993-95.
As the Chinese economy grew faster during the late 90s, the company’s income increased significantly. The soar started in 1996, when the net income reached ¥30m. It rose by ¥8m in 1997 and further by ¥24m in 1998. Then in 1999, there was a very sharp increase, and the income reached a record level of ¥102m. In fact, the income peaked in 1999, with a slight fall in 2000 to ¥96m.。
