Itwasalongfouryears.EvenafterIhadactuallygraduated,thenightmare sbegantohauntme,theuniversitywouldcalltosayIhadn’ttrulygraduate d.TherehadbeenamistakeandtherewasjustonemoreclassIneededtot ake.Iwasalwayssorelievedtowakeupandrealizethatithadonlybeenab addream.Inreality,Ihadpletedeverycourseneededformydegree,andI wasafull-fledgedcollegegraduate!
Now,therestofmylifeloomedaheadofme.Sometimesabachelor’sdegr eepreparesyouforaspecificoccupation——youtraintobeanaccountan t,yougraduateandgetapositioninanaccountingfirm.Often,however,y ourstintincollegeonlypreparesyoutomakefurtherdecisionsregarding yourfuture.You’reprettysurewhatyoudon’twanttodo!
Duringmysenioryearofcollege,Ihadtoyedwiththeideaofchangingmy
major.Atthatpoint,Ihadfinallydiscoveredwhatcapturedmyheart.But, wantingtofinallybefinishingschoolwasastrongerpull.So,Itookafewco ursesinphysiologyandexercisescience,butnotenoughtoreceiveadegr eeinphysicaltherapy.Thatwouldrequireadvancedschooling,beyondm ybachelor’sdegree——andIjustwasn’treadytotacklethat.Havingplete dmyB.C.degree,Ididn’thaveanyintentionsoffurtheringmyeducation.
So,Ididthesafethingandgotanofficejob——theverythingIwassurethat Ididn’twanttodo!Idetestedtheofficepolicies,thesuitsIhadtowearandt hedowntownenvironmentthatIhadtodrivetoeveryday.Iknewthiswas notwhereIbelonged.
Butgodknewwhatpathmycareerwastofollow.Apositionopenedupatt hemostexclusivehealthclubinourcity,soIapplied.Thiswasmykindofen vironment——anactive,vibrantkindofplace——pletelyattheopposite endofthespectrumfromtheofficeenvironmentwhereIfoundmyself.Th epositionrequiredthatIworkSaturdaynightsandSundaymornings.Perf ect,Ithought!IcouldkeepmyofficejobMondaythroughFridayandwork atmydreamjobontheweekends.Thisarrangementlastedseveralmont hsuntil,eventually,afull-timepositionopenedupandIwasabletoresignf rommyofficejob.
Overthenextfewyears,Iworkedmywayuptheleader,gainingexperienc einseveraldifferentdepartments.Ifoundmynicheasthedirectorofme mberservices——cateringtoourclienteleandprovidingthemwithnum erouscutting-edgeprograms.Iwouldhavestayedatthatjobforever——itseemedtobethepinnacleofallmydreamsfulfilled.Herewerefellowem ployeeswhohadapassionforthesamethingsthatIdid——healthandfitn ess.Yetagain,godhadotherplansformylife.Withintwoyears,anewer,bi gger,betterandmorestate-of-the-arthealthclubfacilitywasbuilt——ju stfivemilesdowntheroad.And,inturn,theownerlostmanymemberstot hatclub.And,inturn,theownerlostthousandsofdollars.Onebyonewew ereeachlaidoff.

lifeistough,andtherearealwaysupsanddowns,maybewefailinthewayt oouraims,andwemayfeeldepressed,wheneveratthistime,thedreami nourheartcanalwaysfortus,encourageus,andsupportustomoveahea d.
Young!Fortunately,Iamyoungnow.Justduetoit,Iknowthatnothingisim possible.Ifirmlybelievethatnothingcanstandinmyway.
