And we highly appreciate your understanding and cooperation.And today, w e’ll spend half a day to visit Huashan Mysterious Grottoes. This scenic area is situated between Tunxi District and Shexian County, and it covers as area of 81 square kilometers. Within the area, there are abundance of tourism resources, such as mountains, creeks, grottoes, cliff-carvings and temples. It is an important national scenic area. Now, we’ll take only half an hour’s bus ride, and I will give you a brief introduction about H.M.G.I think the grottoes are not strange to all of you, we often see all sorts of dissolved caves formed by Karst topography, in the cave are various splendid stalactites formed through millions of years. Today what I’d like to introduce is the ancient Huizhou man-made Grottoes—H.M.G, it is the largest in scale, the highest in grade and the most mysterious in our county at present.This area features large grottoes. Up till now, 36 grottoes have been discovered,and 5 of them are open to public. According to archaeologists, these grottoes have experienced a history of 1,700 years at least. Their magnificence, exquisiteness, and mysteries make them a unique sight across the county.On one hand, these grottoes are old, because in these grottoes people have found fossils of dinosaurs’ footprints, and plant fossils as old a s 150 million years. And, there is some pottery china and ironware. On the other hand, they are still young, they are not open to public until September 28th, 2000, just over 6 years till now. But they are lucky as well. On May 20th, 2001, pre-president Jiang Zemin inspected here. Because of all the mysteries circulating about the grottoes, President Jiang bestowed the present names, “Huashan Mysterious Grottoes” on them. Besides, Mr.President spoke highly of the grottoes, saying it was really a treasure full of excellence and mysterious. Therefore, all of you, my friends are welcomed to solve these puzzles.As you know, altogether 36 grottoes are discovered now, within the 7 square kilometers area of Huashan. However, a great many of them succeed in escaping the sharp eyes o surveyor—draftsmen in the past. Such questions as” who chiseled the grottoes?”, “when, how, and why they chiseled?” find no answer even in the comprehensive “History of Huizhou”.In order to protect and discover those grottos properly, only grotto 2\24\33\34\35 are open to public. Now let's go inside those wonderful grottos one by one to uncover its mysterious veil.What will strike you more is the inside of these grottoes, because the internal space is enormous, and because they are peculiarly and scientifically designed. In grotto 35, the largest one, which is about 4000 meter squares. The slope inside it can give you a large surprise. About 100 meters into the grotto, there suddenly appears a 30 meters slope of 45 degrees. And besides, there're 36 stone houses around it. The thickness of the houses vary from 10 cm to more than 2m. Near the entrance of the grotto is thehome of aerial mammals. So this hall also called mammals hall.And now, we are in the grotto 24, please pay a look at those stelae, altogether there're 24 stelae. Have you felt that here is much cooler than the outside world? The temperature is about 20C all the year round.And till now, we have to think that the traces of chisels on the slope are clear and straight. But how come? That is because the mountain itself and the question is: with ancient backward technology, how could people measure so accurately the degree of the incline as well as where to start and stop chiseling.Another mystery lies in the use or purpose of them. Opinions on this greatly vary. Mainly, several speculations are popular, for example, the theory of :”quarry”, the theory of “troop’s shelter”, the theory of “holy cave of Taoism” and so on. But none of them are really convincing.Therefore, many tourists speculate they are works by aliens. As we know, 30 degrees of northern altitude is a mysterious line. Along this line are the famous Egyptian Pyramids, Bermuda Triangle also know as the Devil Delta, and the Dead Sea. And Huashan Grottoes, too, lie on the line.Anyway, the grottoes are human’s masterpiece and they symbolize the perseverance spirits of mankind. So from a certain extent, we should say, after seeing Mt.Huangshan, you will realize man is tiny, but after visiting Huashan Grottoes, you will sense man is so great.Time goes so quickly and your visit to Huangshan is drawing to a close.
