This afternoon, without much to attend to, I automatically took out my cellphone and began my usual entertainment. After several quick clicks, the screen locked onto the wechat page. As my fingers scrolled through a list of posts, I clicked open whatever titles attracted my attention and then skimmed through the interesting passages and pictures. For a long while, I was fully preoccupied with the screen, oblivious of what’s going on around, until my stinging eyes called a halt to my dynamic brain. This is the typical depiction of my routine amusement. Please don’t call us aphone-aholic because I am not alone. Actually, in the information age, almost everybody has an obsessional desire to play with the electric gadgets. Everywhere you go, you will see people of all ages burying themselves in their phones in the office, on the bus, in the restaurant, or even drive a car! It seems that logging onto wechat has become a compulsory lesson, which captures the whole nation into such a virtual spiritual world where we can share knowledge from every aspect of life. The topics vary from news, entertainment, cuisine and health to decoration, cars, pets, literature and advertisements. Is it a good thing or a bad thing to open wechat? The answer is yes and no. Every coin has its two sides. While we recognize the convenience of the tool brings to us, weshouldn’t ignore its negative influence. On the one hand, wechat provides us with a wonderful platform for us to interact with each other, through which we could hav e an insight into what’s others’ life is like and take their essence to improve our life and meanwhile avoid the crude part. Personally, wechat serves as a mini-diary where we can post articles and pictures recording our daily life and share them with our circle of friends, who in return, will make comments on our activities and cheer us up. It’s really an enjoyment to check wechat and receive a lot of praises from our friends. Secondly, wechat can be compared to an encyclopedia in which we could read all sorts of refined articles about every respect of life. Those articles are short and concise but with profound philosophy, which could strike a chord in our heart and make us ponder over our life from a new perspective. Everyday, brilliant articles conveying positive power to the public pour in our phones like tides, which greatly enrich our knowledge and broaden our mind. Whenever I feel frustrated or in a low mood, I would turn to wechat for comfort. The gentle words warmed my heart and gradually melt my restless soul. I am a person of few words and tend to retreat myself into my privacy world. Therefore, nothing could make me burst into laughter. Now when my mind is in turmoil, I would read some amusing jokes on wechat to divert myself from depression. Moreoften than not, I even laugh from ear to ear until I cried when I come across some funny jokes or cartoons. What’s more, through reading articles of common sense for life, I gradually get over my bad habits and pay more attention to details. The knowledge I acquired about diet and health greatly improved the quality of my life.On the other hand, the tool has its advantages. Firstly, checking wechat may cost us a lot of precious time, which may lead to low efficiency in our study or work. Especial ly it’s harmful for teenagers. Several months ago, a student of our school was so engaged in his cell phone that he run into a big tree, the next second his head gushing out with blood. Maybe that is only a small injury, but what if he bumped into a car speeding by? Secondly, long exposure to the screen may do great damage to our eyes. The best solution is to set a limit to the time you spend on wechat and rotate our eyeballs at intervals to relieve fatigue. Third, it’s not always safe to reveal your personal information onto wechat. This condition may lead some evil people to take advantages of us to commit crimes. I often hear news that reported some innocent girls fell victims of disclosing their personal information online. Those terrible examples may serve as a warning against our safety. Therefore, we should be cautious about the contents we post and avoid adding to strangers as our friends. All in all, as with many controversial ideas, wechat is a double-edged sword. In this IT age, we can’t do without it. But we could take the advantage of it and avoid its bad effects. Just remember self-discipline counts.今天下午,没有太多的注意,我拿出我的手机开始自动和我平时的娱乐。
