四级词汇讲解:
本句的主干是study was based on results。

第一个of到句尾构成一个介词短语，作results的定语，其中ofmore than 2,500 adults这个短语又是survey的定语。

be based on的意思是“以……为基础或根据”。

如:
The film was based on a true story.这部电影是根据真实故事改编的。

more than的意思是“超过，比……更多的”。

如:
More than one politician was murdered.不止一名政客被杀害。

英语四级考点归纳:
more本身表示“更(多)”，除表示比较概念外，还常用于以下搭配之中:
※ more often than not意为“往往，通常”。

如:
More often than not, anger is just an indication of weakness.愤怒往往只是软弱的体现。
