Several days ago, I read a book named《The Great Gatsby》, and watched the film with the same name today. It is a masterpiece and gives us an insight into American society in the so called “Jazz age”.
Anyway, Gatsby is still waiting for Daisy, struggling against loneliness, in《The Great Gatsby》.

Gist of the story
Nick is a young bachelor who returns to the Midwest before setting to theNew York City. He has a cousin named Daisy whose husband Tom is an acquaintance of him. With the development of the novel, Nick knows his wealthy neighbor who always hosting wonderful parties named Gatsby. Nick gets to know that Daisy and Gatsby were once lovers from Daisy’s friend Jordon Baker, a woman who is interested in him. Daisy married wealthy Tom because Gatsby was very poor. With years of illegal trades, Gatsby become rich, all the parties held are aimed at Daisy. With the help of Nick, the two meet. Tom discovers the relationship between his wife and Gatsby in the hotel. Daisy is out of control because of the quarrel between the two men and drive home with Gatsby. But it fells that Daisy knocks down and kills Tom’s mistress Myrtle. After that Tom tells Myrtle’s husband to shoot Gatsby. Only three people attend Gatsby’s funeral: Nick、Gatsby’s father and a woman. Nick returns home and reflects on Gatsby’s dream.

1、It was an extraordinary gift for hope,a romantic readiness such as have never found in any other person and which is not likely I shall ever find again.
The novel is a story about dream, filled with wealth、romance and indifference. The author was trying to reveal the situation of American or something that is shared in common by people all over the world. Gatsby is the hero of this tragedy, he is kind and generous to everybody. Meanwhile, faithful to Daisy. However, his intention to recapture Daisy’s heart and repeat the past means the crush of a family and his wealth is the result of illegal trades. There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes. Readers may sympathize him、admire him or tease him.
4、A breeze blew through the room, blew curtains in at one end and out the other like pale flags twisting them up towards the frosted wedding-cake of the ceiling, and then rippled over the wine-coloured rug, making a shadow on it as wind does on the see.
