What is a proverb?
A proverb is a short popular saying, usually of unknown and ancient origin, or of favorite quotations of great people, that expresses effectively some commonplace truth, useful thought, experiences or lessons.
It’s never too late to mend
亡羊补牢,犹未晚矣。
Don’t cry over spilt milk.
不作无益的后悔
不要孤注一掷。
Don’t put all eggs in one basket.
The grass is greener on the other side.
