Governments should focus more on preservation of environment rather than economic development
There has been much discussion revolving around whether governments should pay more attention to environmental preservation rather than economic development.As far as I’m concerned,it is a very urgent global trend to pay more attention to the environmental preservation.My reasons are as follows.
First of all,now the world has become too crowded.We are using up our natural resources, and polluting our environment with dangerous chemicals. If we continue to do this,human life will not survive anymore! It is widely acknowledged that governments are playing the most important role in the environmental protection today. So in my opinion, the governments should come up with some measures to deal with environment destruction immediately for “sustainable development” instead of the economic development.
Besides，the economic development depend on natural environment.If the forest has been cut down and the land has been destroyed，we cannot even live, let alone the economic development. What’s more, the environment destruction is often the price to pay for the increasing economy. But in fact, the aim of economic development is to let us enjoy a better life! Earth is the home we live, so we cannot destroy the environment just for economic development, which may make us cannot even live. A philosopher once said, only when the last tree has been cut down,only when the last river has been poisoned , only when the last fish has been caught, only then will you find that money cannot be eaten. Good environment?is the foundation of our existence ,so whatever we do mustn’t be the cost of destroying the environment !
All in all, I think the governments should attach more importance to environmental preservation rather than economic development and strive for long-term , sustainable and environmentally-friendly development.。
