城市设计面试问题港大建筑面试问题公司内部编号:(GOOD-TMMT-MMUT-UUPTY-UUYY-DTTI-Self-introductionI am so glad to get the opportunity of the interview. I had been an architecture student for 5 years before I graduated from XX University in the year 20XX.I am open-minded and hardworking and I am very fond of new fields and skills. I'm a curious person, and I like learning new things. During my education of bachelor, I have learnt much extra knowledge including the building knowledge and how to lead a team. However the most important thing I’ve learnt as a student was the individual research and thinking about the relationships behind the space consists which lead to my further research.Besides, the internship and profession experience in XX, Beijing broadened my horizons a lot. Because of the cooperation with foreign designers I got much knowledge and different ideas about how the concept and the details can form a building. And as the leader of XX,my communication ability and team spirit improved a lot. However this is not the most important thing for me working in Beijing.Tons of Art exhibitions helped me to know the world and city in different perspectives.Even because of an exhibitioncalled the sense of hearing,I got the initial idea of the last project in my portfolio, you know ---How the human’s feelings can be influenced by seeing and seen relationships. And now,I am fond of Street Photography.Because when I took photos on the street,I can get to know the real changes of our life .You knowthe mobile internet changed our social life a lot even made adifference of public space demands. And by Street photography I canfind the details and beauty of a street which will do some help for my further design and study. In sum, I think my comprehensive capacities and hardworking qualitywill satisfy the requirements for study and research in Hongkong University. That’s my self-introduction. Thank you.Why HKUIn my mind, Hongkong University is always the most famous school in Asia. And it has been my dream school since I was a child.HongKong University has many opportunities of communication with other colleges, and I like to get touch with different students and learn theirculture or skills. So that’s why I choose HongKong University. At the same time, the free academic atmosphere as well as the courses on movie and architecture of HongKong University have great appeal for me.And I believe that I can do better in the study of the city and the society in HKU.Why HK?HongKong is my favortite city around the world. HongKong is an international city where east meets west. It is open and complicate. It will be pleasure for me to have further education in my favorite city.Besides,As and architecture student, the extremely high density of Hongkong attract me a lot.Because of the high density,HongKong is full of fascinating space relationships.Such as the intensive buildings which lead to the large green land of HongKong. And the separated surface and inner function.(You know)The outside is a Huge commercial AD but the inside is the parking lot rather than a market.Because of the fantastic space relationships HongKong can provide the best samples for my further study and research. Why Urban Design(To be honest, it is a hard choice and I haven’t made the final decision.) Although my major is architecture and I love it, I still want to learn some new things. And urban design which is tightly connected with architecture will be a nice choice. Architecture focuses on individual buildings, urban design focuses on the larger scale of groups of buildings to make urban areas functional, attractive, and sustainable. And in my last research I changed my point from the individual spaceto the mechanism behind the buildings. I created Matrix which can be seen as a small city. By doing this I realized UD can help me to find the logic behind the space production .Maybe in this field we can do something really good for citizens.Besides because of the Street Photography, streets in my mind is not just a line on a master plan but a vivid scene which will help me to be a good Urban designer.( That is why I chose the Master of Urban Design .)Other school? To be honest, I have also applied the other school in HongKong CUHK to make sure I can get my further education in HongKong. But if I can get the admission of your school, I certainly prefer my dream school---the university of Hongkong.First choiceDiploma project/Graduation DesignMy diploma project is the design of a huge transportation hub which is a complex with commercial ,residential function and entertainment.Itis about 20 thousand square metres, which is so huge for a block and around by different traffics thus citizens can not access the area easily. In this situation the hub may be a isolated island in the block. In the project,I found a way to link this hub with the city space by creating some bridges and platforms on the second floor planted interesting landscape .This strategy can help create a route for citizens to walk and have exercises on the second floor. At the same time the different route of taxis, buses, and walking people’s can be arranged well on the ground. And I used rhino to build a curved-shape for the transportation hub which can attract people to come to the walking system.I hope this can help solve the safety, accessibility of the hub.Direction/aspect interested /Future planI plan to finish my master programme first. Certainly it would be best for me to have my study in Hongkong University. As for the research plan, I am now eager to explore new fields in urban design. I am interested in the mechanism of the operation of a city. I have also made some researches in the field. For instance, I have completed a fictional city in my portfolio which was operated under the seeing and seen logic. And in that project, I acquired much new knowledge and skills. I believe that HKU can provide me the most suitable platform to explore the new methods and es relevant to the urban design in China. After my education, I will go back to china mainland to start my career as an architect or to be a teacher in a university to continue my research.Favorite architect/Urban designerMy favorite architect is Sou Fujimoto, a architect.I have been influenced by his works a lot.He is different from other architects not only because his works but also his thinking method which is called the ‘Initial future’ in his book The Time when the architecture being created. This thinking method gives me lots of interesting ideas such as why we need a sofa. In traditional China's Scholar's mind sitting should be a part of spiritual?practice so they need a hardwood chair to remind themselves sit like a pinetree. However sofa means comfortable and leisurely life. But when we go back to the initial, whatever wood chair or sofa just provide a surface which has a suitable height for sitting with different materials. So by this thinking Sou Fujimoto created a house just stack with different wood bricks which provide different height for human’s activities. This house is so different .You know Louis Kanh made everything arranged in different rooms even the s and this type of space is now widely used. But When I see Sou Fujimoto’s work I just think is the functional room suitable for our daily life because the situation is so different. You know the E-LIFE,The internet society we are living in.Sou’s work and thinking method open my mind a lot and give me a new perspective.Urban designerTalking about the urban designer.I like Rem Koohas a lot.Rem is a unique guy maybe because of his experience. He worked as a before,so he knows what the politics want and he knows the image of a city is important. The huge and unique shape of the CCTV buildings is just a image for Beijing for China. In some degree,it is a symbol of commercial ability. This situation is especially visible in China, the image of a city is more important than the city itself.Rem knows this a lot so he always can get the project, he knows the mechanism behind this so he just obey the rule. However under the huge and strange symbolized form he often takes an eye on the daily life.Such as the project,Taipei Performing Arts Center which form is huge in a cantilevered Box.Because of this form the building can be the landmark of Taipei even a symbolof Taipei. At the same time, the white rectangles drawing under the cantilevered building is the position of the night market. So Rem can use this exaggerated form to get the clients’ points at the same time he designs some kind space for citizens’ daily life.Because of this way,he can get the project and may can do something good for our city.High Line Park in NYCTheHigh Line(also known as theHigh Line Park) is a 1.45-mile-long (2.33km)built inon an elevated section of a disused---The West Side Line .James Corner led the winning design team for the 2004 international competition.Inspired by the scene, found beauty of the High Line, where nature has reclaimed a once-vital piece of urban infrastructure, the design team aims to refit this traffic system into a place of leisure.By changing the rules of engagement between plant life and pedestrians, James figured out his concept ----the wild landscape. Support the overall the invention of a new paving and planting system that allows for various ratios of hard to soft surface that transition from high use areas----the platform(100% hard) to richly vegetated landscape(100% soft). The park's attractions include naturalized plantings that are inspired by the landscape that grew on the disused tracks, and views of the city and the which will renewal blocks and communities nearby. The recycling of the railway into an urban park has brought on the revitalization of Chelsea, which had been in generally poor conditionin the late twentieth century. It has also made real estate development in the neighborhoods. So we can say this urban design is not only romantic but also hasgreat profits which is so amazing.BookInvisible logic,Hongkong,as Asian Culture of Congestion. The book is written by Weiping Zhang. In this book he used tons of diagram and many details of HongKong’s street to show me a vivid Hongkong.Such as the convenient and accessible overbridges. And he used a seven-eleven shop’s layout to show the simple demands of a urban people, and this also shows the fast pace of living in a metropolis. And I was attracted by the space relationship shown in his book, the outside is AD Inside is parking lot which shows the high efficiency of Space design in HK.And because of this book I am eager to come to Hongkong for my further education and research. The Death and Life of Great American CitiesJane Jacobs used a user’s perspective to write about the urban circumstance so the street is not a line but a vivid scene. In the book, the eye sight of the shops besides the street do a great help to guard the street, which can be an example of my seeing and seen research.Besides, Jane thinks high density is good which I agree so much. Because I lived in ChongQing for 5 years and in Beijing for 1 year,I can feel the difference between the two cities. There are little people live in the center of Beijing, when the night falls the street of Beijing become cold and deserted even unsafe. But because the density of people living in Chongqing and Chongqing is amultiple-center city. The street become vivid and interesting when night falls.Besides, the about the urban village should be advised. We should find a more effective and gentle way to solve this urban area ng with the urbanization.。
