Tom was a 3-year-old boy. His mother was very much concerned abou t his future. One day, she had a talk face to face with her husband, say ing that it was time to let Tom join in a maths training class in order t o help him get along well with maths. However, his father disagreed. He believed it was too early for Tom to study maths. So she has got to do the training by herself at home. She really went through a lot because the small boy is too young to fall in love with maths. She set down a series of maths exercises for him to do. One day at dusk, she asked hi m to add up a couple of numbers. However, Tom upset her again and again. He just played with his toys and seemed to ignore almost all that she ha d said on purpose. Worried and angry, the mother found it hard to calm h erself down. She packed up all his toys, threw them into the dustbin and asked him to stand outdoors for half an hour. She was really tired o f the training and didn’t know how to settle the problem. The following d ay, she fell ill and suffered a lot from the illness for several days. A fter she recovered, she decided she would no longer force the 3-year-ol d to study maths.

他只是玩着自己的玩具，似乎故意不理睬她的话。

她又担心又生气，无法使自己平静下来。

她把他所有的玩具都收拾起来，扔进了垃圾箱，并让汤姆在门外站了半个小时。

这样的训练搞得她筋疲力尽，不知如何解决这个问题。

第二天，她病了，疾病让她受了很多天的折磨。

康复之后，她下决心不再强迫这个三岁小孩学数学了。
