全球化：中国年轻一代所面临的机遇和挑战！globalization: challenges andopportunities for chinas younger generation 全球化：中国年轻一代所面临的机遇和挑战（这是第七届“21世纪爱立信杯”全国英语演讲比赛冠军孙宁的演讲稿）good morning, ladies and gentlemen. today im very happy to be here to share withyou some of my thoughts on the topic of globalization. and first of all, i would liketo mention an event in our recent history. as we can see today, environmentalists from diffrernt countrise are making jointefforts to address the issue of global warming, econormists are seeking solutionsto financial crises that range in a particular region, but undelying this might trend of globalization is the echo of e.m. forster’s words,“only connect!”humanity. in this interlinked world, there are no outsiders, for a disturbancein one place is likely to impact other parts of the globe. we have begun to realizethat a world divided cannot endure. china is now actively integrating into the world. our recent entry to the wtois a good example. for decades, we have taken pride in being self-reliant, but nowwe realize thedeveloping nations’ wealth in debts and interest. globalization, they argue,should be about an earnest interest in every other nation’s econnomic health. we are reminded by karl marx that capital goes beyond decision-making, ruthless expansionists in the global market place and adevastating presence to local businesses. for china , still more challenges exist. how are we going to ensure a smoothtransition from the planned economy to a market-based one? how to construct a legalsystem that is sound enough and broad enough to respond to the needs of a dynamicsociety? how to maintain our cultural identity in an increasingly homogeneousworld?and how to definegreatness in our rise as a peace-loving nation? globalization entails questionsthat concern us all.like many young people my age in china, i want to see my country get prosperousand enjoying respect in thegood noon, ladies and gentlemen. my name is zhangying major in land resourcemanagement. i will talk something about challenges and opportunities in our postgraduate life. all of the postgraduate today have made a choice to have a further study in cumt.our postgraduate life of course will provide us with opportunities to bring out ourcreativity and talent and there is no denying that we lost our chance to work or enterthe society. however, challenges still exist. indeed, facing these two challenges, how can we manage to be a excellent graduatestudent and at the same time to enjoy a valuable and rewarding experience? for me, the solution to the problem lies in do what we should do. as a studentwe should study hard and in order to relieve our family’s economic burden we shouldpursue a high scholarship so it needs us to be more active in many cases.i believe in our futurehonorable judges, fellow students: good afternoon!recently, ther is a heated debate in our society. the college students are thebeneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education at extraordinaryplaces. but will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against allodds? will we be able to better the lives of others? will we be able to accept theresponsibility of building the future of our country? independently. we help each other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargaintogether, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money. the cynics saywe care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for charactercultivation. but again, the cynics are wrong. we care deeply for each other, we cherishfreedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth. last week, thousands of my fellowstudents had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the childrenwho suffer from blood cancer.as college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives.we all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact ourfuture, or even the future of our country. i believe in all my fellow classmates.though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish. i believe that wehave the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities.we are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the educationwe have received to make our world a better place. i believe in our future.我对未来充满信心尊敬的评委，各位同学：下午好！最近，社会上有一场很激烈的争论。
