本州特征有三:第一,它是美国密西西比河以东面积最大之州。
同时也是独立之时十三州中最偏南之州。
第二,它是美国花生与大核桃Pecan产量最富之州。
第三,它是美国首先使用轧棉机之州。
本州地势可分三区:(A) 东南部是冲积平原区。
它是大西洋沿海平原之一部.地势低平,面积占全州五分之三,有大沼泽。
农业很发达。
农产品中以花生为最重要,年产六十多万吨。
本区产桃子及大核桃。
(B)中部是山麓高原,产棉甚富,年产量的约三万包。
(C)本州东北角是丘陵区。
这是阿帕拉契山地之最南端,其中最高峰有一千多公尺。
本州丘陵区面积虽然不大,却出产名贵的白色大理石.产量之多,为各州冠。
本州旅游业很盛,每年由州外之地来此游乐的人,花费多至四亿美元。
气候佐治亚的气候通常很温和。
北部的高山地区夏季凉爽而冬季寒冷。
匹德蒙高原与沿海地区，夏季温暖而潮湿，冬季则是短暂而温和。
一月时的平均温度，在高山地区是摄氏三点八度，匹德蒙高原是六点六度，沿海地区则是十二度。
七月的平均温度，高山地区是二十四度，匹德蒙高原是二十六点六度，沿海地区则是二十七点七度。
乔治亚每年的平均降水量为124.5公分。
地理环境佐治亚是美国密西西比河以东面积最大的州，占地约十五万两千五百八十三平方公里。
该州依地势可分为三大区域：北部山区、匹德蒙高原、与海岸平原。
蓝脊山位于该州东北部，是阿帕拉契山脉的一部份。
佐治亚有些最肥沃的地区位于匹德蒙高原，其地形特征是缓坡。
瀑布丘是一连串的低谷，位于匹德蒙高原与海岸平原之间。
海岸平原占据了佐治亚南部的大部份地区，是该州最大的地理区域。
欧克分诺奇沼泽位于佐治亚的东南角，是美国境内最大的淡水沼泽之一。
流经佐治亚的主要河流有：萨凡纳河、圣马莉河、与恰塔乎奇河。
该州沿着大西洋的海岸线长达一百六十一公里。
乔治亚的人口约有六百五十万。
主要的城市有：亚特兰大（Atlanta，州首府）﹑哥伦布（Columbus）﹑萨凡纳（Savannah）﹑与梅肯（Macon）。
文化氛围亚特兰大有亚特兰大交响乐团、亚特兰大歌剧团、与亚特兰大儿童剧团。
