Unclear reading intentions and simple reading method directly affect the interest and the effect of reading .There fore it is emergent to develop the reading skills and how to improve the reading skills is the problem we have to face.Teacbing aims and demands of Reading are as fouows:First,to lanrn languages, understanding the difference between China and westem countries，one must grasp a certain language technology of adility.lt is an important part in language communication,including listening,speaking,reading and writing.Second,in order to gain more information,enlarge knowledge,train the interest of learning English,and develop the adility using langnage lfcreating,we require students to be Active and to believe in themselves; to undertand the familiar idioms and short story, to Exchange ideas each other,to play a role in a short paly and so on.Third,to improve reading skills of the students and train their reading ability,we require the students to finish reading in a limited time, master the reading skills and improve their reading ability.In teaching English,I adopteel the following mamode:one,guessing unknown words from the contest; two, finding the topic sentence in a paragraph; three, skimming;four,scanning; five, prediction; six, inference.In a word , English reding education is a kind of art .As an English teacher, I must be good at developing my advantage, making full use of the English materials, atowting the interest of the students to make them fond of learning English and willing to learm it.Key words: guessing unknown words from words from the context; topic sentence; skimming; scanning; prediction; inference当代的教育科学理论告诉我们要特别重视人的可持续发展，重视人的综合素质的全面提高。
如何适空二十一世纪知识经济的需求，培养出具有实践能力、交际能力和创新能力等的综合性人才，是我们每位老师应该认真加以思考的问题。
因此，在英语教学中，中学英语的阅读教学就很值得我们去研究和探讨了。
目前，我国现行中学英语教学大纲对阅读教学的目的要求主要有以下三点：1、通过课本学习语言知识，了解中西方的语言文化差异，掌握一定的语言技能。
语言技能是构成语言交际能力的重要组成部分，包括听、说、读、写各方面的技能以及综合运用的能力。
2 、获取更多的信息，拓竟视野．逐步培养学习英语的兴趣，培养运用知识的能力和创造能力。
要求学生对英语学习表爱出积极和越来越强的自信心。
能听懂有关熟悉的话题的语段和简短的故事。
能就有关的话题交换信息，能参与简单的角色扮演等活动。
3 、提高学生的阅读技巧，培养学生豹阅读能力。
要求学生一定的时间内完成一定的阅读任务，掌握一定的阅读技巧，提高阅读的能力英语课程的学习，既是学生通过英语学习和实践活动，逐步掌握英语知识技能，提高语言交际运用能力的过程，又是他们磨砺意志、陶冶情操、拓展视野、丰富生活经历、开发思维能力、发展个性和提高人文素养的过程。
阅读课中不仅要有学习性阅读，还应有信息性、交际性阅读。
目前中学英语阅读课教学在很大的程度上还停留在以文章作为语言为实体的基础上，通过阅读材料传授语音、词汇、语法等语言知识，忽视了培养学生运用科学的阅读方法和策略去获取信息的能力。
其实人们在日常生活中阅读报刊、杂志、信函、电传、电报、报告、旅游景点介绍，使用说明书及广告等，主要目的是获取某方面的信息，现代英语新教材中词读课文的题材，体裁广泛，英语教师必须学好如何根据一篇具体阅读文章的特点，设计各种各样的练习，帮助学生掌握所读文章的主题思想，抓住文章的重要细节。
既至解字面的意思，又理解下文的逻辑关系，快速、准确、高效地获取所需信息。
英语阅读是否得法是中学英语阅读教学效率高低的关键之一。
在中学英语教学中，比较完整的阅读教学体系是由朗读、精读、课内读、泛读、课外阅读、默读六种读的教学方法与课文教学方法结合在一起的。
我国目前中学英语阅读教学普遍存在着三有三无或三紧三松，即朗读、精读、课内读不但有，而且抓得紧，默读、泛读、课外读基本没有，且放得松。
但要真正落实中学英语教学大纲关于“侧重培养阅读能力”的要求，就必须在教学中改变“三无”或“三松”的状况，实现三个结舍，即朗读和默读结台，精读和泛读结合，课内读和课外读结合。
注意了这三个结合我们在教学中还应该给学生一些阅读技巧，因为阅读是一种复杂的、主动思维的心理活动，是读者根据自己经验对信息进行筛选、验证、加工和组合的思维过程，且一种相对独立的认知行为。
阅读就是理解段一气呵成的话语意义的过程，它涉及到广泛的知识．远不止几个单词简单的连接在一起（朱曼殊，1990）。
因此．阅读技巧是搞好阅读教学的重中之重，在上阅读课时，我们应注意运用以下方法进行教学，从而可以取到事半功倍的效果。
1、从上下文中猜（推）测词义（guessing unknown words thecontext ）就是信息性阅读，既阅读语篇，不是阅读单词和单句，不是bottom-up，而是要top-down,要从global到more specific,而不是只见树木不见森林。
不少学生过于依赖词典，每遇到生词必查词典，因此阅读效率不高。
当然要想知道单词的确切意义，必须查阅词典，可是要通篇理解全文，往往不必了解每个单词的确切含义。
例如宋庆林先生在《二十一世纪英语报》中曾经发表的题为“ Learning from con txt ”中一篇短文：Yesterday I got up at seve n o'clock」had a “ cheepicd' for breakfast and brank some “ teafiter ” .When we came near the school,the “ fastier ” suddenlystopped」almost bumped into the person sitting in front of me」looked out of the amfowTo see what happened.T saw a“hallipion ” running across the street,with something in its mouth.A man was all very quiet,class hadalready begun.该文中有6 个“生词”, 都是作者严格按照不同词类的拼写发音及词形变化规则“杜撰”的，其中sheepice 可以解释为： a kind of food ,teafitee---a drin k,fastier---a vehicle,amfow---window,hallipon---an animal,weathies---period of time。
