Let‟s come to our first part—western culture.B: Today we will talk about lies.A: Most people say that they find social lying acceptable and necessary, which is the civilized way for folds to behave.B: I know white lies are very common in England. Without these little lies, their relationship would be short and brutish and nasty.A: Yeah,it‟s arrogant to insist on being so incorruptible and so brave that you cause other people unnecessary embarrassment or pain by compulsively assailing them with our honesty,.B: In China, there are varieties of lies, not only white lies. As we all know, we need to lie in some special situation especially with the officials. A: Do you know these words below?I like your new hairdo/You are looking better/ It‟s so nice to see you/I have a wonderful time…..B: That‟s so common in our daily life, and it‟s easy for us to say like this. A: there are some men who prefer to tell the truth, and they said that “I can‟t play that game and I am simply made that way,B: I think they must treat their credibility as their lives. They think telling lies is morally wrong.A: Well, everyone has his point, and it all depends. Have you ever heard Peace—keeping lies?B: yes, it‟s designed to avoid irritation or argument. Besides, it‟s also can be used to shelter the liar from possible blame or pain.A: You only got partly. It is rationalized designed to keep trouble at bay without hurting anyone.B: Someone tell these lies at times, and yet they always feel they are wrong.A: Why?B: They understand why they tell them, but still feel wrong. If you tell these lies, you would feel guilty, coward and you are dodging responsibility.A:I know. When you are late for a date because you overslept, and you say that you are late because you got caught in a traffic jam. More situations like this: when you forget to call your friends, say that you called several times but the line was busy/ When you didn‟t remember that it was your father‟s birthday, say that his present must be delayedin the mailB: Wow! Why do people have so many lies? That‟s too terrible. I think it nothing serious, but that‟s too easy for us to tell lies.A: I can‟t agree more. But sometime it sounds harmless.B: you asked me the peace—keeping lies, now it‟s my turn to ask you what is the yellow lies? What you told me right now is the blue lies. A: let me see…… sorry, I don‟t know.B: Aha…..you don‟t know. The answer is Protective lies. They occur to people when they didn‟t have enough courage to face truthA: You say they tell lies because they feel there are certain human values that supersede the wrong of having lied.B: You are so clever. Yes ,but these lies are very serious and it deserve forgiving.A: I know when people who are suffering from the cancer and will die soon, they may lie to their relatives so that they can‟t be grief for their death.B: Sounds so moved, but when the death comes, the relatives must be disintegrated.A: Furthermore, let‟s be honest if conditions were reversed, we certainly would not want anyone lying to us.B: Of course! The meaning of many different customs observed during Easter Sunday have been buried with time. Their origins lie in pre-Christian religions and Christianity. All in some way or another are a "salute to spring," marking re-birth.B: The white Easter lily has come to capture the glory of the holiday. The word "Easter" is named after Eastre, the Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring. A festival was held in her honor every year at the vernal equinox (春分).A :People celebrate the holiday according to their beliefs and their religious denominations (命名). Christians commemorate GoodFriday as the day that Jesus Christ died and Easter Sunday as the day that He was resurrected (复活).B: Protestant settlers brought the custom of a sunrise service, a religious gathering at dawn, to the United States. On Easter Sunday children wake up to find that the Easter Bunny has left them baskets of candy. A: He has also hidden the eggs that they decorated earlier that week. Children hunt for the eggs all around the house. Neighborhoods and organizations hold Easter egg hunts, and the child who finds the most eggs wins a prize.B: The Easter Bunny is a rabbit-spirit. Long ago, he was called the" Easter Hare." Hares and rabbits have frequent multiple births so they became a symbol of fertility. The custom of an Easter egg hunt began because children believed that hares laid eggs in the grass.A: The Romans believed that "All life comes from an egg." Christians consider eggs to be "the seed of life" and so they are symbolic of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.B: Why we dye, or color, and decorate eggs is not certain. In ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and Persia eggs were dyed for spring festivals. In medieval Europe, beautifully decorated eggs were given as gifts.Egg RollingA: In England, Germany and some other countries, children rolled eggs down hills on Easter morning, a game which has been connected to the rolling away of the rock from Jesus Christ's tomb when he was resurrected. British settlers brought this custom to the New World. B: In the United States in the early nineteenth century, Dolly Madison, the wife of the fourth American President, organized an egg roll in Washington, D.C. She had been told that Egyptian children used to roll eggs against the pyramids so she invited the children of Washington to roll hard-boiled eggs down the hilly lawn of the new Capitol building! A: The custom continued, except for the years during the Civil War. In 1880, the First Lady invited children to the White House for the Egg Roll because officials had complained that they were ruining the Capitol lawn. It has been held there ever since then, only canceled during times of war.B : The event has grown, and today Easter Monday is the only day of the year when tourists are allowed to wander over the White House lawn. The wife of the President sponsors it for the children of the entire country. The egg rolling event is open to children twelve years old and under.A: Adults are allowed only when accompanied by children! Traditionally, many celebrants (司仪神父)bought new clothes for Easter which they wore to church. After church services, everyone went for a walk around the town.B: This led to the American custom of Easter parades all over the country. Perhaps the most famous is along Fifth Avenue in New York City.A: Good Friday is a federal holiday in 16 states and many schools and businesses throughout the U.S. are closed on this Friday.B: We have studied for long time , now let us have a rest .Listen to a relaxing song ~SpeechA: Today we‟ll learn a beautiful passage “Companionship of Books”. There is an old proverb, …Love me, love my dog.” But there is more wisdom in this:” Love me, love my book.” The bo ok is a truer and higher bond of unionA: A good book is often the best urn of a life enshrining the best that life could think out; for the world of a man‟s life is, for the most part, but the world of his thoughts. The only effect of time have been to sift out the bad products; for nothing in literature can long survive e but what is really good.B: So it is. The great and good do not die, even in this world. Embalmed in books, their spirits walk abroad. The book is a living voice. It is an intellect to which on still listens.A: How time flies.
