A WalkDescribe a place where you often walk. You should say:∙where and when you walk∙what you see on this walk∙who you walk withand explain why you walk.I usually walk in a beautiful park trail that goes into the woods in the evening with my parents. There are artificial wooden bridges over streams and there is a lot of wildlife to observe, like parrots and magpies. On both sides of this river are parks with many different exercise equipments for the public to use. There are also paved walk ways that run down the sides of the stream on both sides for people to use as walk ways or to jog on.I like walking for several reasons. For one thing, walking is a kindof aerobic exercise. It makes me feel like living in the air and it can burn body fat while building leaner muscle. For another, it can improve mental health, including reducing stress and lowering the incidence of depression. Moreover, talking some interesting things happened every day while walking with my parents makes me feel we bound together. Also, with all the beautiful natural sceneries I feel relaxed and happy.A Day OffDescribe what you would do if you had a day off, free from work or study. You should say:∙where you would go∙what you would do there∙who you would go withand explain how you think you would feel at the end of this day.If I had a day off, I won't do anything special or taking any adventures. I just want to spend the whole day with my family. And I think go to a park with a big lake is a good choice. Because this is a free way to get some outdoors time with my family, and maybe even some exercise too. For example, I think I will bring a kite or bike there. Also I want to rent a small boat and go out fishing. Finally, after a whole day's activities we can have a BBQ there. No matter you are working or studying, we are all busy with our daily routine and leave no time for family. A day off and going out with parents makes me feel we bound together. Talking some interesting stories while we are fishing makes me feel warm. Also, with all the beautiful natural sceneries I feel relaxed and happy. Moreover, having outdoor activities is like living in the air and I can get rid of all the pressure.Something Unusual or Interesting You Did RecentlyYou should say:∙what it was∙who was with you∙why you did itand explain why you think it was unusual or interesting.I went to bungee jumping with my best friend recently. The reason is simple. We have our normal daily routine doing the same thing every day, but I want some difference to break the ice and I want adventure. Bungee jumping is the most dangerous activity on the planet. It is a good wayof testing your fear limits. Few people would like to try and it is also an unusual extreme sport for me.The hardest part was actually going off the platform. You wanted to do it but the fear kicked in and the fear part of your mind wanted to hold back. However, when I got over it, it was like a free fallrush that stimulates every part of your emotional psyche. Bungee jumping was like a backwards trampoline that made you go really high. You free fell for a long time until the cord caught you. Then, it stretched and bounced you back up, and you free fell again and went back up and back down until the bungee lost most of its energy. It was the best feelingever. I was buzzing and grinning for a whole day after bungee jumping, but I am not sure whether I have the courage to do it again or not.A Trip that Took Longer than ExpectedDescribe a trip that took longer than you expected. You should say:∙when it happened∙where you were traveling to∙who you were traveling withand explain why it took longer than you expected.Last year I went to Yunnan with my family and it was really a trip that took longer than I expected. It took longer than I expected due to several reasons. The first one was because of massive delays. For one thing, the airplane delays for more than 8 hours for no reason which was the most ridiculous one and annoyed me a lot. I remembered I read an entire book and played video games but still can't kill the time. For another, when I arrived at the destination, the hotel was still not ready for us to check in and we wasted another 2 hours. The second reason was travelling in Yunnan was totally different from what I had expected. I thought Yunnan was a quiet city with marvelous natural sceneries but when I arrived there I was shocked by the huge number of tourists. No matter where I went I had to take a deep breath. I don't feel natural and I can't focus here. Anyway, it was reallyan awful trip. If I could choose again I would rather stay at home.A WeddingDescribe a wedding you attendedYou should say:∙whose wedding it was∙who was there∙where it wasand explain how you felt at this weddingOk, well I've actually been to quite a few weddings, because I'm now at the age when a lot of my friends are starting to get married, so it was kindof difficult choosing which one to describe, but I guess probably the easiest for me to talk about would be the most recent one I went to, which was that of a neighbour of mine. Also, what I should probably make clear to you first, though, is that weddings here in China tend to just involve the wedding reception, as you may know, without the signing of marriage documents, which is usually done in private several months before the wedding, so it's just the reception which I'm gonna talk about. And, as for who was there, well, I couldn't tell you everyone, because there were absolutely loads of people, you know, the hall was pretty packed, so my guess would be that there were probably something like 250 to 300 guests, and if I'm not mistaken, it seemed to be that the majority were friends and relatives of the bride and groom, although I also noticed that they had invited quite a few of their colleagues from work as well, because one of them, who I think was her boss, went up on stage to make a speech at some point.Anyway, with regard to where the wedding was held, well, it was actually in a small city called Zhuji, which is about an hour's drive just to the south east of Hangzhou, because that's where the bride comes from, andthe reception itself was held in quite a nice-looking hotel, which was easy to spot because it was about 10 times higher than all the buildings around it!So regarding how I felt at the wedding, well, to put it simply, it was a really wonderful wedding, and there were some parts of it that moved me quite a lot, such as when the bride broke down in tears when she was on stage thanking her parents for all the support they had given her. It was also really clear to see how much the bride and groom loved each other, as they couldn't take their eyes off each other the whole evening, so I was really happy for them and was glad that I made it to their wedding. That's pretty much it, I think, so thanks a lot for listening.A Positive ChangeDescribe a positive change in your life. You should say:∙when it happened∙where it happened∙what the change wasand explain how you have benefited from this change.I used to sleep late at night and get up late in the morning. But my parents kept telling me it was not a healthy daily life routine and I felt uncomfortable too. Moreover, there were some friends telling me that girls could get older easily in bad daily life routine like this. So I didn't think it was a bright idea to keep sleeping late and getting up late. I had to make a positive change.I used to get up at 9 and sleep at 2 and here's the scenario: I get up likea zombie with a big hang over. I used to feel dizzy and I kept bumping into walls but still felt light headache. My eyes were blurry and it felt like I was 500 pounds. However, when I get up at 7 and sleep at 11,those negative effects are all gone. I am energetic all day long and have a very scientific schedule for working, eating and entertainment. So I am in a very positive mood and manage to do all things without making mistakes. Moreover, my skin is getting better too.An Occasion When You Got AngryDescribe something that made you a little angry. You should say:∙what it was that made you angry∙where you were when this happened∙what you were doing at the timeand explain why you felt angry.China has become car crazy. Bad traffic situation pissed me off every day. Living in Beijing you have to face a massive traffic jam and I promise thissituation will take a hundred years to clear up. Every day's gridlock in the city is normal. Going a dozen blocks can take an hour during rush hour. The worst one I have encountered was the day before the Mid-Autumn Festival this year. Normally I can go back home from the centre of the city in an hour, but that day I was stuck in the traffic jam. It puzzled me why cars completely stop on the highway when there were no accidents or other apparent reasons to stop. Why didn't people just keep driving? It drove me crazy! Finally, an hour's trip took me 6 hours and I definitely believe that every time it comes to the traffic in Beijing it would bea tragedy since then.A Bad Weather ExperienceDescribe an experience you had with bad weather. You should say:∙what sort of bad weather it was∙when it happened∙where you were when it happenedand explain how it affected you.Well, one particularly unpleasant experience that sticks in my memory was the time I went to Huangshan with my mum and brother, which must have been about 2 or 3 years ago, when my mum came over to visit me in Hangzhou. We had decided to go travelling to Huangshan as none of us had been there before, and we'd heard a lot of great things about it.And basically what happened was that we got caught in a big storm, which seemed to spring up out of nowhere, because one minute it was pretty sunny, and the next it was, quite literally, pouring down with rain, and I mean, REALLY chucking it down! What didn't help us was the fact that, at the time the storm hit, we were right on top of a mountain, and because we hadn't checked the weather forecast, we didn't have any umbrellas with us, so we got absolutely soaked! And the worst thing was, when we reached the cable car to get down the mountain, we were told that it had closed early for safety reasons, coz there were some flashes of lightening, and this apparently madethe cable car unsafe to go in.So we ended up having no choice but to walk down the mountain instead, and because it was still raining when we got to the bottom, we couldn't find a single free taxi. So there we were, completely drenched and utterly exhausted, stuck in the middle of nowhere.Thankfully, though, after what seemed like an eternity, a minivan finally pulled up and gave us a lift back to where we were staying, which wasa huge relief. I honestly don't know what we would have done if it hadn't come, because it was getting pretty dark and most people had already left the mountains, so thank goodness it came! And looking back on it now, I would say I actually gained quite a lot from this experience, as it's really kind of taught me to appreciate the times when I do have easy access to transportation, which is most of the time.So yeah, that's pretty much it, and I hope the story wasn't too boring!A Family EventDescribe an enjoyable family event that you attended. You should say:∙where and when this event took place∙what you did (or, what happened at this event)∙who was there at this eventand explain why this event was enjoyable. One of the happiest events in my life was when my family and I went to the Aquarium in Dalian. It is the biggest and most spectacular aquarium in Asia.I was nine at the time and had had a very bad summer holiday that year, since I had to stay home for most of the break because I broke my leg. My Mom and Dad did not tell me about the trip until week before we left. When they first told me I did not believe them, but they finally convinced me that we were really going. The day before we left I could hardly sleep because I was so excited. We had done a lot of packing and preparing, but I still did not feel sleepy. Eventually when I did drift off, I had a dream about riding a dolphin. It took us about ten hours by train to get to Dalian. When we got there we got settled in our hotel and then had dinner. The next day we got up very early and headed for the Aquarium. We saw so many different kinds of beautiful fish, exciting shows, and listened to interesting stories from the tour guides. My favorite was the dolphin show. The entertainers rode on the dolphin's backs, and one entertainer even got flipped high into the air from a dolphin's nose. I love my parents so much for giving me such a special opportunity and memories that I will cherish all of my life.A Sport Event You Participated or WatchedDescribe a sports event that you took part in or watched. You should say:∙what the event was (or, what the sport was)∙ where it was∙who was competing∙what you did during this competitionand explain how you felt about this event.I love to play badminton especially in the summer time. It is a game I really enjoy, so play it whenever I can get a willing partner. It is a lot like tennis, but I can play badminton anywhere. I do not have to go to a tenniscourt to play and I can play in between classes without getting sweaty. Badminton is played with rackets that look a lot like tennis rackets, but they are much more delicate. You should have a net, which sits high above the ground, and a ball that is called a birdie. The birdie has a small rubber half a ball on one end, and it fans out with feathers on the other end to help it to fly. A badminton court has a net in the centerthat stretches from side to side. Each side of the net has a square that the team mates play in. It is ideal to play badminton with four people, but you can play one on one as well. You can also play without points or a net, but I do not think it is as much fun.It is a game that takes a lot of energy so you get plenty of exercise playing badminton. The main reason I like the game is that everyone, man or woman, has an equal chance to compete. There are so many sports that require height or strength to be good; it is refreshing to play one that I have an equal opportunity to win.Maybe that is why I get very competitive and energetic when I play. I love the game; it is fun and rewarding, and I feel alive when playing. An Outdoor ActivityDescribe an outdoor activity that you like doing (or do regularly). You should say:∙what this activity is∙where you do it∙when you do it∙when you started doing itand explain why you like it.Recently, a few friends and I were trying to decide on something interesting and unconventional to do. We came up with a list of ideas and started knocking them off one by one. We went hiking, ice skating, and to a few museums; but our expedition to the planetarium turned out to be my favorite and most memorable experience.Nowadays in Beijing with its dry air, city lights, and polluted skies it is almost impossible to see the sky, much less the twinkle of the night stars. So for me this was an amazing and unique experience. As you recline your seats back, you watch as the revolving dome above you as it comes to life. The narrator of the planetarium speaks smoothly through the peaceful, serene music and guides you through stories about the planets. I absolutely adored the show and will freely admit that I nearly jumped out of my seat during the "big bang" part. The exhibitions are fun and educational regardless of your ageor expertise. It is also worth to note how modern the makers addresswell-known subjects in a sleek, modern, and very engaging way. I learned about the many different constellations, and where they are supposed to be visible from the earth. I opened my mind to the many theories brought forth about the creation of the Universe, and gained a wider perspective about the existence of life. There is so much to be known about life outside our little world; my trip to the planetarium instilled in me a quest for knowledge. Not particularly in astrology, but in all things.。
