detector n. 探测器detective n. 侦探★bury v. 埋葬（buried buried burying)He was buried with his wife .他和他妻子葬在一起。

★confident adj. 有信心的confidence n. 信心be confident of n./doing sth.be confident that +从句He is confident of success .他对胜利充满信心。
We are confident of studying English well.我们有信心学好英语。
She is confident that she will win race .她自信她将赢得比赛。
课文讲解：Dreams of finding lost treasure almost came true recently.最近找到失踪宝藏的梦想几乎变成了现实。
★dream①n. 梦想dreams come true 梦想成真dreams ended 梦想破灭了, 梦断了②v. 做梦dream of doing sth.I dream of flying in the sky.我梦想在天空中飞翔。
★come true变成现实实现（无被动语态）His dream came true .他的梦想成真了。
He realized his dream .（his dream was realized.）他实现了他的梦想。
A new machine called 'The Revealer' has been invented and it hasbeen used to detect gold which has been buried in the ground.一个叫探宝器的新机器已经发明，它已被用来检测金已埋在地下。

★armed with 过去分词短语作状语，表伴随状态。
过去分词----表被动，已经完成。
The professor came of the classroom , followed by his students .教授来到教室，后面跟着他的学生。
★hoping to find 现在分词短语作状语，表伴随状态。
现在分词---表主动，正在进行。
Some left the hall still weeping .有些人离开大厅时还在哭泣。
★Very excited 形容词短语做状语(位于句首时，多用于说明原因或说明动作发生时主语的状态。
)Tired of sleeping on the floor , he decided to buy a real bed .厌倦了在地板上睡觉，他决定买一个真正的床。
In spite of this, many people are confident that 'The Revealer' mayreveal尽管如此，很多人仍然相信“探宝器’something of value fairly soon.很多有价值的东西。
In spite of 尽管something of value=something valuableThe news is of importance to us.=The news is important to us.这个消息对我们来说是重要的。
表示过去习惯性动作: used to与would⑴used to 和would 都可用来描述在过去某一段时间內的习惯动作或经常做的事，一般来说，我们用used to来开始一段故事；used to 可用来表示現在与过去的对比，而would 不能。
⑵used to 可用来表示過去的状态和情況；would 只表示过去重复的动作，不能表示状态和情況。
⑶would 常和often always frequently sometimes 等时间频度副词及具体时间连用。
