Dear Students,
If you are planning to stay in HK after graduation, you may wish to apply for the Immigration Arrangement for Non-local Graduates (IANG). Non-local graduates who have obtained a degree level or above in a full-time and locally accredited programme in Hong Kong are eligible to apply for IANG. Non-local graduates who submit applications for IANG to the Immigration Department within six months after the date of their graduation are classified as "non-local fresh graduates". As a non-local fresh graduate, you will not need to secure an offer of employment upon application. You may submit your application to the Immigration Department direct together with an official transcript, a
Official Assessment Result Notification or a testimonial which proves that you have graduated from or successfully completed a locally accredited programme at degree level or above hosted by the University. For details regarding the application for transcript, official Assessment Result Notification and/or testimonial, please refer to the Student Handbook (P.
44 & 49).Upon approval of application, you may be granted 12 months' stay on time limitation without other conditions of stay provided that normal immigration requirements are met.
Also, non-local graduates can also submit applications after six months of the date of their graduation as "returning non-local graduates". However, returning non-local graduates will then need to secure an offer of employment upon application. And the job has to be at a level commonly taken up by degree holders and the remuneration package is set at market level. Then, you may be granted 12 months' stay on time limitation without other conditions of stay provided that normal immigration requirements are met.
For extension of stay under IANG, persons may apply for extension of stay to work in HK within four weeks before his/her limit of stay expires and are required to secure an offer of employment which is at a level commonly taken up by degree holders and the remuneration package is set at market level. Subject to approval, applicants will normally be permitted to remain on time limitation on a 2-2-3 years pattern without other conditions of
stay. Persons having ordinarily resided in Hong Kong for a continuous period of not less than seven years may apply for the right of abode in Hong Kong in accordance with the law. Applications will be accessed in a case-by-case basis.
