In 1978, lbert C. Baugh & Thomas Cable claim that “Comprehensive and balanced, this classic exploration of the history of the English language combines internal linguistic history and external cultural history—from the Middle Ages to the present”. Emphasis is on the political, social and cultural forces that affect language . Emrik Slettengren ,Sibylle Hug ,J. Alan Pfeffer ,John Mateer ,Laurence Urdang,they all study loanwords in English from different views.In China, Li Funing, who mastered English, French, German, Latin and Greek, wrote the works of "History of English" .Another famous person is Y u zhiyuan ,he devoted much of his time to the development of English language linguistics.Also,like Hu zhuanglin , Xu jiajin , Wang zuoliang ,they all introduced English from different levels and perspectives.
