Other processes such as SULFREE, CLAUSPOL, and SUPER CLAUS are being used, with the sulfur recovery up to 99.5%.

China’s total sulfur recovery capability could be up to 4.53 Mt/a in 2010.
This figure could expand to 5.8 Mt/a in 2015 if the oil and natural gas consumption keeps growing at rates averaging 5% per year.
It has the characteristics of low capital investment and low operating cost.
Besides the above-mentioned combination processes, a number of small plants involving sulfur recovery is not suitable for the CLAUS + SCOT process.
