Photovoltaic Junction Box1Affixing thebase partThe particularly easy, fast and safe installation is the main feature ofWeidmüller’s new photovoltaic junction box – for manual as well as for fullyautomated production processes.Only three small work steps are necessary to mount the two-piece housingat the rear side of the solar panel and to connect the solder ribbons. PhotovoltaicJunction BoxThe first step is to affix the ribbon carrier near the solder ribbons.This is done by means of a prefixed adhesive pad that furthermore onlyneeds removal of the protective sheet. The fact that the Weidmüller systemdoes not require exact positioning may be extra helpful.+3212Positioning thesolder ribbonsThe second step is to position the solder ribbons of the PV module ontothe contact blades of the ribbon carrier.Once again, manual mounting is made easy:Separating webs between the solder ribbons allow a clear positioning,although it is not necessary to be meticulous.In case of fully automatic assembly these easy process steps only involveminor programming work and thus obviously less costs for the equipmentof automation machinery than other systems.PhotovoltaicJunction Box+3213Installingthe junctionhousingThe last work step is to fix the upper part of the housing onto the ribboncarrier. The certified housing is completely equipped with all necessaryoutgoing feeders.Affixing the junction box and connecting the solder ribbons in asingle operation.Silicone material in a specific flute is intended for fixing and sealing(a double-sided adhesive pad, however, would do as well).Pilot skids allow the reliable allocation of the tulip contacts in the upperpart of the housing onto the positioned solder ribbons.No extra work step for the connection of the solder ribbons and outgoingfeeders – no extra soldering.• Optimised for manual as well as automated mounting• Huge time savings because, in comparison to other systems, it is notnecessary to await the curing process of the silicone between affixingthe carrier and connecting the solder ribbons.• Simple and reliable mounting with a perfect align fixture• It is not necessary to open the box (not even to grout the electronics)• Compact design• Plugs and cables are available according to customer specifications PhotovoltaicJunction Box+321cl ic k+Easy and reliablemaintenanceThe necessary maintenance (e.g. in case of a defect cable due to damage done by rodents) can be provided easily, quickly and reliably:After having released the safety latch (screwdriver), the upper part of the box, including the connection cable and the electronic components, can completely be removed and replaced by a new unit. It is not necessary to release and re-fasten the contacts neither to the photovoltaic module nor to the outgoing feeders. Just put on the new unit that has already been tested according to all necessary functions and – you are done.In case of failure the installer only needs one spare part – of course already equipped with a new sealing.Time saving – easy – faultlessAs there is no intervention regarding the contacts or the cable connection, and as improper opening of the junction box is impossible you can always be sure to achieve optimum results (which is important when granting guarantees).Photovoltaic Junction Box+321+acbedPhotovoltaic Junction BoxRight down to the smallest detailWeidmüller has developed an excellent connection system for solar panels not only with regard to mounting and service.
