Bruce LeeHe was born on 27 November 1940 at the Chinese Hospital in Chinatown, San Francisco. His father, Lee Hoi-chuen, was Chinese, and his mother Grace Ho , a Catholic, was of German and Chinese ancestry. Lee was the fourth child of five children.After the world war ii, Bruce lee followed her parents going back to Hong Kong. In 1949,he entered the Tak Sun School, and then changed his school to the La Salle College. Until the fourth grade in second school, he had been kicked out of school for fight and truancy, so he turned to the St Francis Academy to continue his studies. He was frail when he was a child, and his father taught him Taijiquan to exercise for his health and strength of his body since he was seven years old.During the period of his returning to the school in his age of 16, he went to the Leader Street, Yau Ma Tei, for learning Wing Chun from Yewen. In boxing terms, he practiced a lot with the senior fellow apprentice who had also learned the west boxing. In addition, he has learned Hong Quan, the white crane boxing, boxing skill, Cai Lifo, Tai Chi, Tan legs, Shaolin boxing, stamp feet, boxing and lots of others boxing sections. In 1957, he won the champion of the Hong Kong Inter-school boxing competition in the junior group. Furthermore, he was very fond of Cha-cha.In May of 1959, because of fighting with others, his achievement wasn’t good enough, so his parents decided to send him to the birthplace, the United States. In the United States, he firstly entered the Edison Technical School in Seattle, he admitted to the University of Washington to study in Seattle later. He majored in philosophy, and also had the minor subjects of psychology, drama, and so on. While studying, he met his future wife--Linda.In April of 1962, he rented a corner of a parking area, and hung out a board of " Bruce Lee Martial Arts Studio" in his sophomore year. He tried hard to temper himself while taught others, so he had a great progress in his martial arts. On July the ninth, 1967, he officially established the name of his own philosophy of the martial arts--"Jeet Kune Do", in the Bruce Lee Martial Arts Studio in the Chinatown of Los Angeles.In the summer of 1971, he accepted the invitation of the Hong Kong Golden Harvest Films, signed two films for the fee of 1.5 million. The first film named "The Big Boss" was taken in the subject of Chinese martial arts .The budget of the films was only $ 100,000, and the film-script was written as the movie making, but this film took the top grossing since the inception of Hong Kong, reached 300 million Hong Kong dollars in this case.Following the "Big Boss", he had taken the "Fist of Fury". This film had doubled the budget than the "Big Boss", caused a greater sensation and broke the box office records in Asia.After that, he set up the Concorde film company, wrote, directed and starred the film "Way of the Dragon" and "Death of the game" all by himself. "Way of the Dragon" was more as a global issue. He also did the united movie of "Enter the Dragon" with the U.S. film company Warner and Hollywood , and personally played the lead in the film. While he was ambitious, and ready to do the film of "Death of the game", he died suddenly at the age of only 32 years old on July the 20th, 1973 in Hong Kong."Game of Death" is about that a strong person rushes a seven-storey pagoda to win the legendary rare treasures, with arriving the tower top after a round of battles, he is only in exchange for an old philosophic word: "Life is a process of waiting for the death". Unexpectedly, the prophecy had unfortunately come true, the film became his unfinished posthumous work. Later, "Enter the Dragon" was showed in the U.S., and made a remarkable box office result. It beat a lot of Hollywood best movies released in the same period; the new Hollywood martial arts movies were born. Hollywood had pity for him, and remembered him in many ways. The U.S. Memorial Award conferred on him a number of films.Bruce Lee was a Chinese American and Hong Kong actor, martial arts instructor, philosopher, film director, film producer, screenwriter, and founder of the Jeet Kune Do martial arts movement. He is widely considered by many commentators and other martial artists to be the most influential martial artist of modern times, and a cultural icon.。
