Falling sleep in class
We can easy to fine students falling sleep during class. Generally teacher encounter in such cases, there are two types of reaction. The first is to wake them up, and the other is to let them sleep. In my opinion, the teacher who chooses the second practice is very wise. I will from the following several Angle to explain my point of view.
At the beginning, we should know why does students would fall asleep during class. There are three reasons from the point of views of such students.
The first reason: Students are too tired to pay any attention to the class. As we know, statistics show that teenagers need 10 hours of sleep each night. Well, mostly all teenagers have busy schedules and don't get 10 hours of sleep each night. Students don't fall asleep before 10 and most wake up at 6 or 6:30 for school. They are very tired, so I think the least teachers could do is give them a couple hours to sleep in school, unless they're willing to cut back on the homework. The second reason: Students find the subject too boring to actually stay awake. Some of the most boring subjects are often taught by the most boring teacher possible. And maybe these teachers speak in a monotonous voice and the words coming out of their mouths are more like chants for a sleep spell.
From the above analysis of the cause of why students falling sleep during class, I want to say, a wise teacher should let them sleep. The reasons are as follow.
Firstly, everyone has their own rights. Sleep is a natural right. Student sleeping in class is not illegal and no sin and he have the right to choice sleep or not to sleep.
Secondly, as the first reason we just discussed. To student, with busy schedules, sleep is what they want most but have to worry about least. As the Doctor say, our brains don't start to really function until about 10am. If this is so, why do teachers expect students to pay attention and comprehend new things so early? If the students were so tired that they couldn’t stay awake th at learning probably wouldn’t have occurred anyway. I think it is better to let them sleep in class so that they can do better in the rest of them that day.
Next, if the teacher found students sleeping in his or her class, he /she should reflect on this, whether the subject is too boring or the teaching method he/her used was something wrong. This is helpful for teachers to improve teaching method, improve the quality of teaching. Teachers should try to turn these bed time stories into interesting stories to get the students’ attention.
Finally, I think is really important that the students should know responsibility well enough to keep themselves awake in class(Unless they're rather young, like kindergarten/preschool age). It should be the students’ respo nsibility to stay awake in class and if they don't then they should accept the penalties, because your college professor is not going to wake you up .And people have to learn on their own because in the future, no one is going to wake them up at their job.
So, in conclusion, if the students falling sleep in class, I don't think the teacher should wake them up, no matter what. It's their choice, they're old enough and they should know better. If they're not going to mentally attend, then don't sign up for a class and waste state/personal/or your parent's
money on wasted tuition and low grades. If they can keep passing and get good grades, then go on and sleep.。
