One brief analysis on textual metaphor of Face to Face with Hurricane Camille When the horrible hueeicane came , young children cried ,adults were on the verge of panic, but grandmother Koshak reached an arm around her husband’s shoulder and put her mouse close to his ear. ‘pop,’she said,’I love you.’He turned his head and answered,’I love you .’we can see the power of their spirits from their words. When they face the horrible scene ,they didn’t perform like others, they stay calm, and got ready to face it.they didn’t disturb thenslves.they knew that they must face it but not be afraid of it.I think the metaphor in it is the spirit of the grandmother held. ‘a moment latter ,the hurricane ,in one mighty swipe, lifted the entire roof off the house and skimmed it 40 feet thorough the air .we can see the situation was becoming worse and worse . I think if anyone others faced with the situation would be so scared .but the grandmother not.she chose to keep calm to face it with o optimistic attitude .When we encounter difficulties in life, we notice thatsome of us choose to bury their heads in the sand. Unfortunately, however, this attitude will do you no good, because if you will have no courageeven to face them, how can you conquer them? Thus, be optimistic, ladiesand gentlemen, as it can give you confidence and help you see yourselfthrough the hard times, just as Winston Churchill once said, “An optimistsees an opportunity in every calamity; a pessimist sees a calamity inevery opportunit y.”keeping optimistic, you will be able to realize,in spite of some hardship, there’s always hope waiting for you, which willlead you to the ultimate success. Historically as well as currently, thereare too many optimists of this kind to enumerate. You see, Thomas Edisonis optimistic; if not, the light of hope in his heart could not illuminatethe whole world. Alfred Nobel is optimistic; if not, the explosives andthe prestigious Nobel Prize would not have come into being. And LanceArmstrong is also optimistic; if not, the devil of cancer would havedevoured his life and the world would not see a 5-time winner of the TourDe France.A rose may be beautiful, or maybe not; that depends on your attitudeonly, and so does success, so does life. Hindrances and difficulties doexist, but if you are optimistic, then they are only episodes on your longway to the throne of success; they are more bridges than obstacles! Now Iprefer to end my speech with the great British poet Shelley’s lines: “I fwinter comes, can spring be far behind?”We often hear people say, 'Life is hard!', while I think to have optimistic attitude in life is the key to settle down all hard things. When one is optimistic, he often foresees the hopes and actively tries to work out. Of course sometimes he's also frustrated by something, but the bad mood passes quickly. Once his optimistism rests on him very soon, he's active to work again. And life, to a person like that always actively making tries, often shows its sunshine and smiles. There's a proverb saying "life is a mirror, if you smile to life, life often smiles to you". And a lot of other proverbs saying like 'chances are for those who are always prepared'. Having the optimistic attidude is the key in life.It means that every portrait has many facets, some are smiling, others are not. We must, therefore, focus on the smiling aspects of everything we observe. There is brightness and there is also darkness. We should ignore the darker side and concentrate on the brighter side of things. In other words, we should always take hopeful and positive attitude.Optimistic attitude in life refers to the opinion that all events are ordered for the best. Optimistic thinking is when you are thinking only the positive for the future. The opposite of this would be pessimistic thinking where you would only think the worse. Optimistic attitude causes you to consciously focus on things which you enjoy more, but your conscious mind can only recognise a tiny amount of things which you enjoy. So you are amplifying a disproportionate amount of emotion in your own mind. Optimism is the doctrine held by Leibniz and others that the existing world is the best possible. It is the doctrine or belief that good ultimately prevails over evil. It also refers to the tendency to take the most hopeful or cheerful view of matters or to expect the best outcome. In other words, it refers to expecting the best in this best of all possible worlds. Some people succeed, while others may not. This is because some people possess certain qualities, which others do not.The first thing you must remember is that in order to succeed, you must be optimistic(乐观的).If you do not expect to win,you will not try as hard as those who do expect to win.You also need to have a clear aim and a reason for doing something because motivation(动力)is a key to achieving success. If you do not have an aim, then you will not be motivated to work hard and put your performance under the microscope to make sure that every detail is right.Another quality that helps people succeed is creativity(有创造力)-thinking about things in a different way and wondering how others would do the same thing.Think about some successful people you know. They might be successful with a little creativity, but the most successful people are the most creative ones.Reading is another to success,as it will help you learn about how other people have achieved success. If you want to learn how to set up a successful business, you should read books about people like Bill Gates and Jerry Yang, who have achieved amazing success in their areas of business.Practicing is also important if you want to succeed because practice makes perfect.Practise every day at whatever career you are in,and by doing so,you will see yourself, your business and your self-confidence begin to grow.If you feel confident about what you do,this confidence will make other people believe in you as well.Your colleagues will be happy to work with you,and your boss will give you more responsibility. Finally if you are a successful person, you will be able to look people in the eye and smile confidentl。
