We recently surveyed 500 people on their reading preference and the reasons for those preferences. According to our findings, 42% of the repsondents preferred reading e-books for reasons including that e-books are generally cheaper, more convenient and their information is more up-to-date. Almost 50% of the participants said they preferred paper copy books because they are used to this mode of reading and find note-taking much more convenient. Finally, 10% of the survey participants indicated a preference for audio book reading, stating it is better for their eyes and allows them to simultaneously do other activities such as housework. Our survey showed that while people’s reading habits are becoming more diverse, the important thing is that people still continue to read.

A recent experience showed me just how important learning English could be for my future. Last year, I had the honour of giving a welcoming speech to the British teachers on behalf of my school. I spoke fluent English and this left a deep impression on the guests. The guests were so impressed that they invited me to join a 3-month training programme in England for free. While in England, I not only developed some practical skills but also gained invaluable overseas work experience.
All in all, emphasis should be placed on English studies as it is good for our future.
