In history, Wuhan is with military vital importance for its convenient water carriage and abundant products. In 1911, Sun Yat-sen's followers launched the Wuchang Uprising (武昌起义) that led to the collapse of the Qing Dynasty and the establishment of the Republic of China. Wuhan was the capital of a leftist Kuomintang (国民党) government led by Wang Jingwei (汪精卫) in opposition to Chiang Kai-shek (蒋介石) during the 1920s. In 1938, Wuhan and its proximities became the battlefield of the Battle of Wuhan, a major conflict in the Second SinoJapanese War. Now it has developed from a military center to a regional political and business center.

Wuhan (武汉), first termed as such in 1927, is the capital of Hubei Province (湖北 省). With the population of 8,970,000 thousand residents in its urban area, it is the most populous and biggest city in central China. Traversed by the Yangtze River (长江) and its tributary Han River (汉江), Wuhan is divided into three parts, Wuchang (武昌), Hankou (汉口), and Hanyang (汉阳).
Guangji Temple
• Located on Inner Fuchengmen Street (阜成门 内), Guangji Temple (广济寺) is one of the most famous Buddhist temples in China. Guangji Temple means the temple of great charity and it is one of the major Buddhist temples in Beijing. Since 1953, the temple has been the headquarters of the Chinese Buddhist Association and a center for Buddhist learning. This temple is surrounded by the tranquility(peace) of old cypress trees and lush greenery along the deep winding paths.

• Beigong National Forest Park was constructed in October, 2002, located in the Fengtai District (丰台 区), west suburb of Beijing City . It covers an area of 9.145 square kilometers. And it is the biggest park which is closest to the city center.

• Recently the popularity of Nanluogu Xiang (nán luó gǔ xiàng 南锣鼓巷) hutong area has increased noticeably with tourist numbers on the rise following the complete refurbishment of the district in time for the 2008 Olympic Games. Many tourists enjoy taking ride through this 800year-old hutong that was once home to celebrities, officials, artists and well-off families.
Wuhan is recognized as the political, economic, financial, cultural, educational, and transportation center of the area of the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River. Yr San Po
• Ye San Po (is a natural and very beautiful nature reserve, about 75 miles southwest of Beijing, with high mountains, forests and deep valleys. It follows the river (a small brook really, but it is extremely beautiful) by the river valley, and sometimes it can be quite steep and difficult to walk. There are some Buddhist temples there, and one wonder why they built them in the most inaccessible place. In the forest around, there are several trees that are 1000 years old.

Beijing Badaling Wildlife World
• Being the largest zoo of mountain wildlife in China, Beijing Badaling Wildlife World (八达岭野生动物世界) lies at the foot of the Great Wall at Badaling with an area of about 400 hectares. It is more than 60 kilometers from Beijing, and is adjacent to the Badaling Expressway (八达岭高速公路) and the newly built Large Badaling Parking Lot (八达岭 停车场).
