2.Sa nd and Sto ne 沙土与石头During some point of the journey, two men had an argument , and onefriend slapped the other one in the face . The one who got slapped was hurt , butwithout saying anything , he wrote in the sand : Today my best friend slapped me in the face .They kept on walking , until they found an oasis , where they decided to take a bath . The one whohad been slapped got stuck in the mire ( 沼泽, 泥潭)and starteddrowning ,but his friend saved him . After he recovered from the near drowning ,he wrote on a stone : Today my best friend saved my life .The man , who had slapped and saved his best friend , asked him ,“ After I hurt you , you wrote in the sand , and now , you write on a stone , why? ”The other man replied :" When some one hurts US we should write it dow n insand where the winds of forgiven ess can erase it away . but whe n some one does I f you plant gossip, you will reap enemies . 播种流言,收获敌人。

”3. As I See It亲眼所见One day a wealthy man took his son on a trip to the country so he could have his sonsee how poor country people were ,and appreciate what they had. They stayed oneday and one ni ght in a very humble farmhouse .At the end of the trip and back home the father asked the son :" What did youthi nk of the trip? ”The son replied : Very nice , Dad .”Father:" Did you notice how poor they were? ”Son :Father:" What did you learn? ”Son :" I learnedhat we have one dog in the house and they have four . We havea fountain in the garden and they have a stream that has no end . We have lamps inthe garden : they have the stars . Our garden goes to the edge of our property ; they have the en tire horiz on as their backyard ,”At the end of the son's reply the father was speechless and his son added :" Thankyou for show ing me how poor we really are .”一天,一位商翁带着儿子去乡下旅行,想让儿子看一看乡下人有多穷,从而珍惜他们所拥有的一切。

他们在一间十分简陋的农舍里住了一天一夜。

旅行结束回家后,父亲问儿子:你觉得这次旅行怎么样?”儿子回答道:非常好,爸爸。

”父亲又问:你注意到那里的人有多穷了吗?”儿子说:是的。

”父亲接着问道:那你有什么发现?”儿子回答:我发现我们家只有一条狗,可人家却有四条,我们家花园中有一个喷泉,可人家却有一条没有尽头的小溪。

我们家花园里安的是灯,可人家却有满天星斗。

我们家的花园就到宅子的尽头,可是人家的后院却一望无际。

”儿子的一席话令父亲无言以对。

儿子又补充道:谢谢您让我看到我们真的很穷。

”4. The Dista nee Between Hearts 心的距离A Hindu saint who was visiting river Ganges to take a bath found a group of family members on thebank , shouti ng in an ger at each other . He tur ned to his disciples and asked,“ Why do people shout in an ger at each other? ”His disciples thought for a while , and one of them said ,“ Because we lose our calm , we shout. ”“ Buwhy should you shout when the other person is just next to you? You can aswell tell him what you have to say in a soft manner, ” asked the saintHis disciples gave some other an swers but none satisfied the other disciples .Fin ally the saint expla ined ,“ When two people are angry at each other, there will be a distanee between their hearts . To cover that distanee they must shout to be ableto hear each other . The angrier they are , the stronger they will have to shout to cover that great dista nee."W hat happens when two people fall l in love? They don ' t shout at each other but talk softly , because their hearts are very close. The distanee between them is either nonexistent or very small . When they loveeach other even more, what happens?They do not speak , only whisper and they get even closer to each other in their love.s all Fin ally they even n eed not whisper; they only look at each other and that Thatis how close two people are whe n they love each other.Owhen you argue do not let your hearts get distant ; do not say words thatdista nee each other more, or else there will come a day whe n the dista nee is sogreat that you will not find the path to return .”一位在恒河里洗澡的印度教圣徒看到有一家人在河岸上冲着彼此愤怒地嚷嚷着,便转身问他的弟子们:人们为什么互相愤怒地叫喊呢?”他的弟子想了一会儿,其中一个回答道:因为我们沉不住气了,所以才大声叫喊。
