由于四、六级作文是根据一次性阅卷得出的总评判分，判分人就总体印象给出“奖励分，具有很强的主观性，因此一方面要注意书写的可读程度，也就是卷面整洁。
另一方面，注意一些基本的拼写及语法错误，如冠词、介词、时态、语态、主谓一致、词性、名词单复数等方面的错误。
下面考生还应注意以下几个常见问题：1.more and more 结构的误用
考生在表达“越来越多”或“越来越少”之意时经常出错。
例如：
①错误：Nowadays young people who seek to go abroad are becoming more and
more.
正确：Nowadays more and more young people seek to go abroad.
②错误：With the development of cities, green land becomes less and less.
正确：With the development of cities, green land has increasingly decreased.
2.There be 结构误用
学生在写作中，很喜欢用“There be”结构来表示“有….”，但是在使用时经常出错，形成中国式英语，有时还显得很累赘。
①错误：There are many people like to go to the movies.
正确：Many people like to go to movies.
②错误：There are different kinds of housing material can be bought on the market.
正确：Different kinds of housing material can be bought on the market.
3.固定搭配问题
英语中有许多固定搭配用法，由于受母语表达的影响，考生往往会犯一些语言搭配上的错误，有时还难以察觉。
例如：
①错误：The population in China is more than that in America.
正确：The population in China is larger than that in America.
说明：不用many, much 修饰population,而用small 和large 来修饰。
②错误：The traffic in Shanghai is getting more crowded.
正确：The traffic in Shanghai is getting heavier.
说明：traffic 不与crowded 搭配，而与heavy, light 搭配。
③错误：We student should study/ learn as much knowledge as possible so that we
can be fully prepared for the future.
正确：We students should acquire/ obtain as much knowledge….
说明：knowledge不与study或learn搭配使用, 只能与acquire, enlarge, gain, pursue, deepen, accumulate 等搭配。
4.结构一致问题
在一个或相邻的几个句子里，在表达相同、相近或相对的几个意思时，所使用的语法结构要保持一致。
错误：The price of milk isn’t higher than fruit.
正确：The price of milk isn’t higher than that of fruit.
说明：than 连接比较成分时，比较应在同类事物之间进行，其结构应保持一致。
5.串句错误
一个复合句中无连词连接从句，只使用逗号连接，这就是串句。
例如：
错误：You do it at once, you can finish the experiment in time.
正确：If you do it at once, you can finish the experiment in time.
6.赘言
在一个句子里重复使用意思相近的词或词组，造成累赘，这就是赘言。
错误：In my opinion, I believe the free medical system is in need of reform.
正确：In my opinion, the free medical system is in need of reform.
说明：in my opinion与I believe 意义重复，应删掉一个。
7.人称不一致
错误：We can have good fortune only if you take pains and work hard.
正确：We can have good fortune only if we take pains and work hard.。
