The diet of the North and the South in China
Abstract
Referring to the differences of the north and south, we will first think of that the southern staple food is rice and northern food is flour. The staple food’s differences cause the entire diet and eating differences. Now, I will introduce the diet differences between the north and south. I think knowing the reasons of those differences is very important. Because different diet shows different culture. There are some students coming from south and some coming from north. In order to get along well with each other, I think learning the diet culture’s differences can be a good idea.
II.Body
In eating, north and south both sides each holds different opinions. Southerners like delicious rice, but northerners like delicious noodles.
From drinking view: Northerners can drink more than southerners and they use bowl to drink, big mouth and bite, talking loudly. Southern relatively fine.
Why would cause that?
Because people plant rice in the south of China while people plant wheat in the north of China. From the point of food quantity, the southern is small and exquisite but the north is thick and rich. There is most number of Chinese cabbage, or greenhouse vegetables in winter in south, but north is relatively less. Especially in the countryside it might be a big difference.
All in all, the dietary differences generally are caused by geographical features and different regional culture. These are what I want to say.

Irs like pasta and southerners like rice. Northerners like stew, but southerners like delicate dishes. Soup is served as a dish in south, especially drinking more soup in the hot summer weather and generally before meals. In north soup is generally not served as a dish, only after meals. Southerners like to eat onions, but the northerners like eating garlic. Southerners eat kimchi, but northerners eat pickles……
People in the north are forthright. People in the south are more reserved. The complex geographical environment in the South and the north and a long cultural tradition and other factors will also be the reasons.
Conclusion
Of all above, we can conclude some important findings. There are so many differences in the diets between the north and south. It also causes many culture’s influence. In my view, I think that the differences of the dietary culture between the north and south are very interesting. we can learn more about Chinese culture. As a Chinese people, I think it is necessary.
