It’s my great honor and pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you.What I’m going to talk about is Unit Two—What’s Your Favourite Season—in the PEP Primary English Students’ Book—Book2 in Grade Five. My topic is made of seven parts. It includes analysis of teaching material, analysis of students, teaching objectives, teaching key and difficult points,teaching methods and aids, and teaching procedures as well as blackboard design. First, let me talk about the teaching material.ⅠAnalysis of teaching materialThe main topic in this unit is about season. There are three major parts in this unit, including Part A, Part B and Part C. Obviously, it is impossible to finish this unit in one lesson hour. What I’m going to talk about is the most important section of Part A Let’s Learn, which is the foundation of this unit. By studying this section, students know the fourseasons—spring, summer, fall and winter. They can speak, read, listen and write the centre words in correct ways.Moreover, students can ask and answer the question: What’s your favorite seasonThis is the key sentence of this lesson.ⅡAnalysis of studentsMy teaching subjects are primary school students. They have learned English for two years, but still know little about English. They know few words, they can hardly listen, speak, read and write new words even sentences. But they are curious, active and fond of various activities. They can learn things as well as quickly if they want to learn. So interests are thebest teachers for students.Therefore, on studying the teaching material and analysis of the regulation of mind, I put forward the teaching objectives according to New English Lesson Standard.Ⅲ Teaching objectives1.Knowledge objectives:(1)Students can read, speak, listen and write the newwords: season, spring, summer, fall, winter and favorite;(2)Students know the sentence pattern: What’s yourfavorite season(3)And answer it accordingly.2.Ability objectives:(1)Enable students to read, speak, listen and write newwords correctly;(2)Help students use the sentence pattern to ask eachother what’s your favorite season(3)And answer it accordingly.3.Emotion objectives:(1)Help students increase their interests and set upself-confidence in English learning;(2)Encourage students to have desire to learn Englishwell and enjoy the lesson.Ⅳ Teaching key and difficult points1.How to help students be able to read, speak, listen andwrite the new words (season, spring, summer, fall, winter favorite).2.How to let students master the sentence: What’s yourfavorite season3.And answer it.Ⅴ Teaching methods and aids1.T eaching methods(1)Situational Teaching methodDuring the teaching procedure, I will make the situational conversation for the students. By the role-playing game, students make their own conversation by themselves according to their reality. By doing this game, students can have chances to practice their oral English.(2)DemonstrationFor each word and sentence, before students start to learn,I will demonstrate how to read it for them.(3)Task-based teaching methodFor students, to learn a new word or sentence is a task. Only finished the tasks can they master the words and sentences.(4)Interactive Teaching methodTo teach a word or sentence, most of the time, I will use games to help students. So interaction between teachers and students is so important and inevitable.(5)Group Study MethodI will divide my class into four or six groups and each group has its own name. Group study plays a very important role in my lesson. By doing this, students can study English in competitive cooperation.(For primary school students, they can get really competitive easily.)2.T eaching aidsIn the teaching process, I will apply blackboard, word cards(单词卡片), sentence strips(句型条), pictures, tape recorder and multi-media computer to arouse students’interests in learning English.Ⅵ Teaching procedures1.G reeting & Roll call2.W arm upSing an English song or motion chantPurpose: So as to the psychological characteristics of children, singing a song can make students feel pleased and satisfied, and can arouse exciting motion.3.R eview words, sentences or grammarPurpose: It’s important to let students review what wehave learned last class. Revision is another way oflearning.4.L earn new words:(1)InputFirst, I will let students listen to tape A Let’s Learn, say what they have got. Then tell them this is what we’re going to learn today. Third, I will show students wordcards, including four typical pictures in spring, summer,fall and winter, on which the words the other side. And two word cards with English and Chinese meaning on each side. I read all the words for students each word twice. Studentsjust need to listen. Then the new words will be presentedone by one.Purpose: input the new words what we will learn to students.(2)Practice:a.Let students read new words follow me.e games to help students learn new words.First, I will teach students to read new words one by one.Second, for each word, I will use a game or an interesting way to help students practice and remember it. (Games: such as touching card, bomb game, high and low voice, magicfingers, I say you jump, what’s missing, little detective and so on. )Purpose: Using an interesting way to arouse students’interest of learning.(3)OutputAfter the above two steps, I will make sure every studentlearn the new words well, so I will use a game (See Say) to check it.Purpose: To check out the result of students’ learning.5.Learn new sentence (What’s your favorite season)6.7.(1)InputI will show students the sentence strip and read for them. Purpose: Input the whole sentence to students.(2)PracticeFirst, let students read the whole sentence after me. Second, I will divide the whole sentence into two parts: What’syour//favorite season Then I teach them individually. Third, combine the sentence and use a game(Finding card) topractice the whole sentence.Purpose: By dividing the sentence and using game to practice sentence, students can learn it well easily in an relaxing atmosphere.(3)OutputRole playPurpose: Let students play role play in groups or pairs isto make sure they learn the sentence well.8.S ummaryAsk some students briefly to do a summary, then I make abrief sum-upPurpose: Get students recall and form a system of theseknowledge what we have learned this lesson.9.H omework(1)Listen to the tape of A Let’s Learn five times andread after it.(2)Write down the new words on exercise book five times,hand it in next time.Purpose: It’s vey important and necessary for students tomaster the knowledge they have learned after class.
