媒体是指传播信息的媒介。

它是指人借助用来传递信息与获取信息的工具、渠道、载体、中介物或技术手段。

媒体包括电视、广播、报纸、周刊（杂志）、互联网、手机和直邮。

媒体主要有以下七项功能：
监测社会环境、协调社会关系、传承文化、提供娱乐、教育市民大众、传递信息、引导群众价值观。

但是现在很多新闻通过媒体传递的同时也引起了繁杂的社会舆论，有些人因此而得到相应的惩罚，但也有些人因此承受不住舆论的压力，选择极端的方式处理问题。
