翻译的忠实性

The so-called faithful is the standard "信"Yan Fu proposed in the literary translation,it means that thoughts in translators' translations should be consistent with the original text. Translators should abide by the original author's writing purpose without adding their own ideal.Newmark(1988) pointed that translators should try their best to pass on the original meaning of the text. It is obvious that faith is one of the important standards, while the fluent refers to that the translation should accord with the national language habits and it should read smoothly without the feeling of militias, namely,"达".If the translation reads obscure and is difficult to understand. It will be prohibitive to be shelved together regardless of the faithful.it is not hard to find that translation involves the dialectical relationship problem between "信" and "达". "信" is the premise of "达"."无信则无所谓达"(郭延礼,2005). Those translations which is not faithful to the original are not good translations no matter how fluent they are because they fail to express the original informations. Similarly ,even if the translators completely understand the author's intention, but the translated text can not be as fluent as the original,as a result, it would be detrimental to the guidelines of the "信".。
