Unit 2 what’s your favorite season?Good morning! Dear judges! It is a great honor to have a chance to stand here to share my teaching idea. Today my topic is Unit Two --What’s Your Favorite Season ?from PEP Primary English Students’Book---Book 2 in Grade Five.I will interpret it from seven aspects, including the analysis of material, the analysis of students, teaching aims, key and difficult points, teaching and learning methods, teaching procedure and board design.The analysis of teaching contentThe main topic in this unit is“season’. There are three major parts in this unit, including Part A, Part B and Part C. And what I am going to talk about is the second lesson of Part A .This lesson includes two small parts :Let’s learn and read and match. After learning, the students can listen ,read .say and write the words: spring, summer, autumn,winter and season. And they can use the sentences “Which season do you like best?I like …best.”correctly.The analysis of studentsThe students in Grade 5 are curious about new things and eager to get successful in doing something. After learning English for 2 years, they have some basic English background knowledge. We should focus on communicating with them, providing them more chances to use language.The analysis of teaching aimsKnowledge aims: After this class, Ss can listen , read ,say and write the words: spring, summer, autumn, winter and season. And Ss can use the words they have learnt to talk about their favourite season with the sentence “Which season do you like best?”and can answer correctly.Ability aims: Ss can communicate with their partners using the words and sentences in their daily life. At the same time, Ss ‘listening and speaking ability can be improved in the class activity.Emotional aims: Ss’relationship with classmates can be cultivated through thestudy of this course.Ss love the nature and enjoy each season.The analysis of important and difficult points1. Ss can answer and understand the questions:which season do you like best?why do you like…best?The analysis of teaching aidsIn order to serve my teaching process, I’ll using modern information technology and prepare these training aids: ppt,some pictures of these four seasons, textbook, sound recorder and the tape.The analysis of teaching procedure(一)warming upFirst of all, I will make a simple greetings like: Hello, boys and girls,how are you today?And I will have a short free talk, such as :what’s the weather like today?-Yes, it’s a sunny day and it’s warm ,right?Ss canhave a basic impression of today’s topic and get into the atmosphere of English through the free talk.(二)presentationFirstly, I will show a picture about spring and ask Ss “which season is it?”Ss may answer me “Chun Tian” in Chinese. I will teach them how to say“chun tian”in English. I will teach”spring”several times with higher or lower voice.Then teach and read spring’s pronunciation ,paying special attention to ea’s pronunciation ,the same as ea’s pronunciation in tea At the same time, I will ask Ss what’s the weather like in spring?what’ s the colour of spring? What can we do in spring?According to the answers of Ss, I will make a chant like: spring is warm;spring is green;we can plant trees in spring;I like spring. Secondly, I will ask Ss what’s the next season? And I will make a gesture like “hot”, and Ss may get the idea that it’s summer. At the same time, I will show a picture of summer and teach them the word :summer .I will put “duck” and “summer”these two words together. And I will ask Ssthese questions: do you like summer?what’s the colour of summer?what can we do in summer?Through the interaction with Ss , I will make a chant like : Summer is coming; summer is red; I can eat ice cream;I can have a rest. And I will teach Ss this chant several times so that Ss can have a basic understanding about the season: summer. Thirdly, I will teach “autumn”in the same way.Showing the picture first and ask Ss the color of this season,etc. According to the information, I will make a chant with Ss like: summer is gone; autumn is coming; autumn is golden; I can eat many fruits; I like autumn.After teaching “autumn”, I will show a picture of winter, and ask Ss what’s the last season in a year? At this time, I will teach the word “winter”to the Ss.And I will ask Ss What’s the weather like in winter?What’s the color of winter? What can we do in winter?So we can make a chant about “winter”: winter is white; winter is cold;I like winter; because I can make a snowman.After teaching these four words, I will put these four seasons’ pictures together and ask Ss to read .then get Ss listen to the tape and follow it .“There are four seasons in a year, what’s your favourite season?(句型的呈现要设计进去,漏掉了My favourite season is spring ,it’s warm ,it’s beautiful.What about you ? Which season do you like best?自然呈现句型,板书)”And I will make an example teaching Ss how to answer this kind of question.Then,teach Ss to read after me .And learn to answer with the pattern “I like ----”.Next,listening to the tape, Ss repeat what they have heard for several times.(三)P ractice1.Guessing game,get Ss guess “What season is it?”2.After Ss can read and say the words fluently ,I will show the pictures of four seasons ,ask Ss “Which season do you like best?Get Ss answer.Then, we practice the conversation using these four seasons one by one.After showing them how to do the conversation, Iwill arrange few minutes to let Ss do a pair work using these sentences with their partners. And then I will invite some groups to come to the stage to do the conversation.(四)C onsolidation1.Group work:Firstly ,I will give out some tables,ask Ss to make a survey with the sentence “Which season do you like best?”and write down .Then get Ss to report. Before this activity ,I will give a model.2In this step, I will make a conversation by myself, like: “which season do you like best? Why?I like…because….”And I will put the four seasons’ chants together on ppt.These can be a hint that Ss can have some ideas about how to organize this conversation. At first, I will do an example like: I like summer, because I can eat ice cream and go swimming. Then , I will give them few minutes to practice with their partners.
