6. react vi.作出反应;回应拓展:react to sb/sth 对某人/某事作出反应react against sb./sth.反对,反抗,某人/某事react on (upon)... 对…起作用, 对…有影响,对…起反应reaction n. [C,U]反应,反作用;反动,对抗例:The dog reacted to the loud noise by barking. 那声巨响引来狗的吠叫。
How did he react when you called him? 你给他打电话时,他有什么反应?Her arrest produced an immediate reaction from the press.她被捕的事立刻在新闻界引起反应。
7. a+ 序数词:“再一次,又一次”。
相当于again,不是单纯的表示第几次,只是表示具体的数量和次数;the + 序数词:“第几次”例:I tried a second time = I tried again. 我又试了一次。
I tried a third time =I tried another time, which is the third one/time.我又试了一次,已经是第三次了。
8. mess n.混乱;食堂;肮脏;困境vi.把事情弄糟;制造脏乱拓展:be in a mess 乱七八糟, 处境狼狈get into a mess 陷入困境, 遇到麻烦get sb. into a mess使陷入狼狈处境mess up弄脏, 弄糟例:The house is a mess. 屋里一片狼藉。
It is going to create a huge mess. 它将创造一片大混乱。

在语意上相当于ought to have done。
其否定形式shouldn’t have done表示本不应该做某事,而实际做了。
例:You should have followed his advice. 你本该听取他的劝告。
She shouldn’t have told you the secret. 她本不应该告诉你这个秘密。
拓展:couldn’t have done表示过去本来能做但是实际未做。
might have done表示过去本来可以做,但实际未做。
needn’t have done表示过去本没必要做,但实际做了。
例:You could have done it well, but you were too careless.你本能做好,但是你太粗心。
