Unit 3 lesson 16 How Safe Is Your Home 说课稿Hello, everyone! It’s my great honor and pleasure to share my lesson with you.I divided this representation with six parts: the analysis of the teaching material, the teaching strategies, the learning methods, the teaching procedure, the blackboard design and the teaching reflection. Part 1. The analysis of the teaching material1. The position of the teaching materialThe content of my lesson is Lesson 16 of Unit 3, Book of Grade 9 , New Junior English for China, published by Heibei Education Press. The topic of this lesson is How Safe Is Your Home. By studying this lesson, we know that our home is not a safe place, especially the kitchen and the bathroom because many accidents happen there, so we must know some safety tips for preventing accidents at home. The topic of this unit is about safety. Therefore, this lesson is in the important position in this unit.2. Teaching AimsAccording to the new standard curriculum, the syllabus and after studying the teaching material, the teaching aims are as the following:First, the knowledge aim is that the students should master some words and expressions about the safety tips in the kitchen and the bathroom to help them understand the content of this lesson.Second, the ability aim is that the students can spread the whole text just according to some pictures, words and useful expressions, at the same time, their abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing are developed, especially their reading ability and then they can set up their effective studying strategies by training their abilities of studying by themselves and cooperating with others. The moral aim is that the students should realize the importance of safety in our daily life, and try to keep safe not only at home but also outdoors. Meanwhile, I paid more attention to increasing the students’ interest in learning English and setting up their self-confidence by completing the task.3. The important and difficult pointsBased on the requirement of the syllabus, the important point is that the students can speak out the sentences about the safety tips according to the pictures I showed on the screen. As for the difficult point, what I did is that the students can retell the text according to the key phrases on the blackboard and then write their own passages about how to keep safe at home.Part 2. Teaching strategiesAs we known, good teaching strategies require that the teacher should not only help the students develop good sense of the English language, but also create a good language atmosphere to stimulate the students’ interest in learning English. For achieving these teaching goals,I used the following strategies:1. Communicative Approach2. Task-based Language Teaching Approach3. Situational Teaching Approach4. Group Cooperating Teaching ApproachPart 3. Learning methodsAccording to the new standard curriculum, I created a student- centered class and offered the students opportunities to participate in class to share and exchange their ideas with the group members actively, which made them experience in the situation, and at the same time, develop their sense of cooperation and competition.Part 4. Teaching procedureStep1 Lead-inI greeted with the students and divided them into several groups first, then showed them a song named Be Careful to lead in the new lesson. The purpose of my lead-in is to attract the students’ attention for them to think more about how to keep safe in our daily life so as to arouse their interest in learning English.Step2: New lessonTask 1: ListeningThe first thing I did is that the students listened to the passage and think about the questions:1. Do you think your home is a safe place, why or why not?2. What rooms are the two most dangerous rooms in the house? Task 2: Reading1. In order to help the students understand the passage better, I gotthe students to read the passage and underline the sentences about safety tips in the kitchen and the bathroom.2. So as to have the students master the content of the safety tips, Ihad them speak out the whole sentences just according to the pictures showing on the screen to check what they’ve learned by themselves, meanwhile, I write down the key phrases on the blackboard.3. I had the students retell the text according to the key words andphrases on the blackboard to consolidate what they’ve learned about the passage.Step3. DiscussionAs the students know the whole reading passage, I got them to work in groups to have a discussion about the most common accidents that happen at home and do an exercise (Let’s Do It exercise 3), then give a report about how to keep safe at home. After the students’ discussing, a representative from each group shared their report with the class. It is a good way to train the students’ ability of team work.Step4. SummaryAt the end of the class, I gave a summary about this lesson and emphasize safety is very important to everyone, so whatever we do, be careful! Safety is at first. Let’s cherish our life and keep away from danger!Step5. Homework (Writing)The homework in this lesson is to get the students to write a passage about how to keep safe at home. Homework is important and necessary for the students to master the knowledge they’ve learned. Also it is a good way to cultivate the students' comprehensive ability.Part 5. Blackboard designWhile teaching, I used a mind map to show the structure of the textso that the students may get a clue of the text and have a better understanding of the whole text.In a word, as a teacher, what I should do in teaching is to act as a guider, an organizer and a director who plays a role to help the students to become more independent and successful learners. That is all for my interpretation about this lesson. Thank you for listening.PS: Blackboard design:Lesson16 How Safe Is Y our Home?Safety tipsin the kitchen in the bathroom1. be careful with… 1. Never use…, hurt…2. hurt oneself, fall off 2. slip, fall, be sure to do3. keep…in… 3. leave…alone…4. be careful with…, burn oneself5. put out…, instead…Cherish our life and keep away from danger!Part 6. The teaching reflection:All in all, on one hand, this was a comparatively successful class. On the other hand, during my competition, I found some unsatisfactory elements in my teaching, for example, I should create more opportunities for the students to participate in the class to share and exchange theirideas more actively. I think it would be better for me to improve the teaching procedure for future use. In addition, the classed should be practical and adhere to the students’ ability. I learned a lot from my experience and my instructor’s guide. In order to realize the new concept of teaching, I think I need to do more research on the textbook and learn more from the others.。
