INTRODUCTION TO ACCOR CHINA
Accor was the first international hotel management company to enter China in 1985, with its first hotel opening in Guangzhou in 1988. Accor’s intention at the time was to open a series of traditional mid-product, three-star Novotels similar to those in Europe with 180-200 rooms each. Only later did the second generation of Novotels evolve into the larger four-star properties.
Accor currently operates a total of 28 hotels in China. All Accor hotels are situated in major metropolitan areas and gateway cities around the country. From the capital city of Beijing alone, major tourist attractions including the Forbidden City, Great Wall and the Ming Tombs can all be easily visited. Shanghai —China’s second largest city —is one of the fastest growing commercial and financial centres in the world. This exciting and glamorous city is well positioned for excursions to the West Lake of Hangzhou or the famous Shaolin Temples. Jinan, the birthplace of Confucius and the “City of Springs” is only slightly further afield.
