峨眉山为佛教四大名山之一，与山西五台山、浙江普陀山、安徽九华山并称为中国佛教四大名山，是举世闻名的普贤菩萨道场，有寺庙约26座，重要的有八大寺庙，佛事频繁。
景区面积154平方公里，主峰金顶3077米，最高峰万佛顶3099米。
Mt.Emei lies in the southwest of Emeishan City, Sichuan Province, and it is one of the four mountain ranges in China that Buddhists consider sacred. Mount Emei and the Wutai Mountain in Shanxi, Zhejiang, Putuo Mountain, Jiuhua Mountain, and known as China's four major Buddhist mountains, is a world famous temples Samantabhadra Bodhisattva.There are about 26 temples, where Buddhist ceremonies are frequently held. The scenic spot covers 154 square kilometers. Its main peak, Golden Summit, is 3077 meters above sea level. The top peak, Wanfo Top, is 3099 meters high.峨眉山地势陡峭，风景秀丽，有“秀甲天下”之美誉。
峨眉山是有名的自然博物馆，共有3000多种植物和2000多种动物。
山路沿途有较多猴群，常结队向游人讨食，胜为峨眉一大特色。
1996年，峨眉山—乐山大佛作为一项文化与自然双重遗产被联合国教科文组织列入世界遗产名录。
The mountain stretches more than 200 kilometers from south to north. Known as its steep terrain地形and beautiful picture, Emei Mountain has been described as "Beauty under Heaven". Mount Emei is a well-known natural museum with more than 3,000 specimens of plants and 2,000 types of animals including groups of monkeys that appear on the mountain roads and fascinate the tourists. It was included in the UNESCO world heritage list in 1996.传说此山是普贤菩萨的道场。
每座寺庙都有一座普贤菩萨雕像。
山上的景点主要包括：报国寺、万年寺、伏虎寺、清音阁、仙峰寺、金顶等。

A legend claims that the mountain was where Samantabhadra(普贤菩萨) gave lectures on Buddhism and most temples house a statue of Samantabhadra. The main scenic spots on the mountain include the Baoguo Temple（报国寺）, Wannian Temple(万年寺), Fohu temple（伏虎寺）, Qingyin Pavilion(清音阁), Xianfeng Temple （仙峰寺）(Jiulao Cave 九老洞) and Golden Summit(金顶). These places are at different altitudes and have different climates. Temperatures at the top of mountain are 15 degrees lower than at the foot.峨眉山是一个举世闻名的旅游景点,每座山都有美妙绝伦的景致，每走几步就有惊喜。
峨眉山有广为人知的十大景观：“象池月夜”、“九老仙府”、“洪椿晓雨”、“白水秋风”、“双桥清音”、“大坪霁雪”、“灵岩叠翠”、“罗峰晴云”、“圣积晚种”和“日出”、“云海”、“佛光”、“圣灯”。
除此之外还有一系列的有趣的景点,如报国寺,伏虎寺，万年寺，清音阁，仙峰寺，洗象池，雷洞坪和金顶。
Mountain Emei is a world famous site of tourism, with a miraculous views for each of its hills and a surprise every few steps. There are the recognized top ten scenes of Sunny Clouds over Loufeng Peak, Evening Belts at Shenji Monastery, Clear Sound under Twin Bridges, Morning Rain at Hongchun, Elephant Pond in Moonlight, Autumn Breeze over Baishui Monastery, Nine Sages' Residence, Overhanging Greenery at Linyan Rock, Snow World at Daping Monastery, and Buddha's Halo, Cloud Sea, Sunrise, and Holy Lamps. And there are series of interesting sites such as Nation Dedicating Temple, Tiger Taming Temple, Myriad Years Temple, Clear Sound Pavilion, Immortal Peak Temple, Elephant Bathing Pond, Leidong Terrace, and Golden Summit.1982年，峨眉山以峨眉山风景名胜区的名义，被国务院批准列入第一批国家级风景名胜区名单。
1996年，峨眉山与乐山大佛共同被列入《世界自然与文化遗产名录》，成为全人类自然和文化双重遗产。
2007年，峨眉山景区被国家旅游局正式批准为国家5A级旅游风景区。
In 1982, Mount Emei Mount Emei Scenic Area in the name of the State Council approved the first batch included in the list of state-level scenic spots. In 1996, Mount Emei and the Leshan Giant Buddha together included in the "World Natural and Cultural Heritage" and a dual natural and cultural heritage of all mankind.
