1. can,用于表示“能力”、“允许、可以”、“可能性”。
She could swim a long distance when she was only 5 years old.她五岁时就能游很长的距离。
Can I use your car?我能用你的小汽车吗?Can she come on time?她能准时来吗?2. may,用于表示“可能性”“请求许可”等。
It may rain soon.有可能下雨。
May I come in?我可以进来吗?She might be our new school master. 她也许是我们的新校长。
一此处的干什么?might表示猜测时，不表示时态，它表达的可能性比may要小。
3. must,“必须、应该”、“肯定、一定”，表示有做某一动作或事情的必要或义务。
Must I go right now?我必须立刻就走吗?She must be ill, for she didn't come to school.她肯定是病了，因为没有来上学。
4. need“必要、需要”，既可以作行为动词，也可作情态动词。
当用作情态动词时,通常用于否定向和疑问句中。
You needn't worry about her.你没有必要担心她。
Need I return the book now?我需要现在就还书吗?We need to be helped by the teachers.我们需要老师的帮助。
(这里的need是行为动词。
)5.will 和wouldwill (would) you+ 动词原形，表示请求、劝说的语气。
