作为一个新兴产业，近几年来得到了人们的关注和长足的发展，许多地区因地制宜，优化调整产业结构，积极引导渔民发展形式多样的观赏渔业项目，不断扩大产业的规模和效益，推动了各地区产业结构的进一步优化和社会经济的发展【关键词】观赏渔业社会经济产业发展意义发展思路一、发展意义与观赏鱼(金鱼、锦鲤、热带鱼)有关的水族器材、饲料、药品及本身的生产、销售、经营等活动统称为观赏渔业。
近几年来，我国近海渔业资源持续衰退，使占据了海洋产业半壁江山的渔业经济在进入新世纪后呈现出低迷的状态。
面对新的问题与形势，沿海各地均在设法进行渔业结构的调整，寻求渔业经济新的经济增长点。
休闲渔业以其独有的魅力成为渔业结构调整的亮点，引起业内人士的关注。
休闲渔业利用海洋和淡水渔业资源、陆上渔村村舍、渔业公共设施、渔业生产器具、渔业产品，结合当地的生产环境和人文环境而规划设计相关活动和休闲空间，提供给民众体验渔业活动并达到休闲、娱乐功能的一种产业。
在发达国家早已形成了一定规模，但在我国还是新兴产业。
随着部分地区产业结构的优化调整，观赏渔业产业规模迅速扩大，发展态势持续良好，既丰富了城乡文化生活，又取得了显著的经济效益。

研究证明，观赏渔业不仅可以陶冶人的情操，培养人的性格，而且可起到平衡血压，修身养性，对治疗神经衰弱、忧郁症、高血压都有明显的作用。
在自家的书房、卧室、客厅养上几条观赏鱼，不但可以增添恬静优雅的情调，而且有助于工余之暇松驰精神，消除疲劳。
香港大约80%的居家养殖观赏鱼，而大陆还不足10%，因此，大陆的市场前景广阔。

可用于水质监测、遗传工程、鱼病防治、探索鱼类提早繁殖原理与方法以及药物控制鱼类性别等方面的实验，还可进行生物变异、遗传进化、胚胎发育和环境保护等方面的研究。
目前，金鱼检测污水处理效果被子作为常用手段付诸实践。
