More people die of tuberculosis (结核病)than of any other
disease caused from a single agent. This has probably been the case for quite a while. During the early stages of the industrial revolution, perhaps one for every seven deaths in Europe’s crowded cities were caused by the disease. From then on, though, western eyes, missing the global picture, saw the trouble going into decline. With occasional breaking of war, ∧rates of death and infection in Europe and America dropped steadily through the 19th and 20th centuries. In the 1950s, the introduction of antibiotics weakened the trend in rich countries, and the antibiotics were allowed to be exported to poor countries. Medical researchers declared victory and withdrow.
They were wrong. In the mid-1980s the frequency of infections and deaths started to pick up again around the world. Where tuberculosis had vanished, it came back; in many places where they had never been away, it grew worse.
The World Health Organization estimate that 1.7 billion people (a third of the earth’s population) suffer from tuberculosis. Even the infection rate was falling, population growth keep the number of clinical cases more or less constant at 8 million a year. Around 3 million of those people died, near all of them in poor countries. 1. by

By 1980, Nike had attained a 50% market share in the U.S. athletic shoe market. Nike’s first national television commercials ran in October 1982, during the broadcast of the New York Marathon. The ad was created by the advertising agency Wieden & Kennedy, which has remained Nike’s primary ad agency. The famous slogan “Just Do It” for a 1988 Nike ad campaign was chosen by Advertising Age as one of the top five ad slogans of the 20th century. With the ad campaign, Nike expanded its product line to encompass many sports and regions throughout the world.
