Our Campus
JU’s campus is the best of its kind among universities in Jiangsu Province and even the whole nation. Located by picturesque <图画般的>Taihu Lake and Chuangguangxi Wetland Park and designed with the concept of “Eco-campus”<生态校园>, it provides teachers, students and staff the best living and learning environment.
Library
The library building, located on the central axis['æksɪs]<轴线>of the new campus, was put into use in 2007. With a floor space of 52217 m2, a holding capacity of 2,700,000 books and 4,000 reading room seats, it is one of the largest libraries among higher institutions of Jiangsu Province. It has 2,116,600 paper documents and 3,338,300 electronic documents, in addition to 40 Chinese databases, 120 foreign language databases, 18 self-built databases, 30,000 Chinese and foreign language full-text electronic periodicals.
Dormitory
Jiangnan University has 14 dormitory building groups, providing accommodation for about 25,000 students. The total floor space of the student dormitory buildings reaches over 300,000 M2 , in addition to Young Teachers’Dormitory, International Students’Dormitory and Lihu Teachers’Homestead. Four or six undergraduates share one dormitory room, while two postgraduates <研究生>share one dormitory room
Dining Halls
There are four dining halls on campus, covering a floor space of 3600 M2 and providing catering services to about 25,000 people. The Catering Service Center of the Logistics Group in charge of the dining halls has established the service model focusing on ordinary mess, special mess, western dim sum<西式精美点心>, and local snacks on three levels, in addition to ethnic food <民族风味餐>and fast food distribution.
Gym & Stadium
The gym covers a floor space of 15,000 M2, with a seating capacity<载客人数>of 4085 spectators<观众>.It can provide space, facilities[fə'sɪlɪtɪz]<设备>and live show for various international athletic contests, big entertainment shows and large-scale conferences. Besides, it has three conference rooms and a multimedia classroom with a seating capacity of 144 people.
The stadium is a round roofless architecture with standard plastic tracks and high surrounding stands which can seat 12,000 spectators. It is a suitable venue['venjuː]<地点>for sports meet or grand cultural events.
