Friendship
“You have been my friend”, replied Charlotte. “That in itself is a tremendous thing. I wove my webs for you because I liked you. After all, what's a life, anyway? We are born, we live a little while, we die. A spider's life can't help being something of a mess, with all this trapping and eating flies. By helping you, perhaps l was trying to lift up my life a trifle. Heaven knows anyone‘s life can stand a little of that.”
Fern, daughter of John Arable and Mrs. Arable, was the courageous eight-year-old girl who saved Wilbur in the beginning of the novel.
Fern saved Wilbur.
The author
E.B.White(1899-1985),“the greatest essayist in the 20th century”. As main writer of 《The New Yorker》,White created “writing style of 《The New Yorker》”.White cared about everything in the world, his moral(道德) was as good as his article .Besides his essay, he also wrote three books for children:《 Stuart Little 》(精灵鼠小弟), 《 Charlotte’s Web 》and 《The Trumpet of the Swan》(吹小号的天鹅).
“你一直是我的朋友,”夏洛回答说,“这件事本身就是一件了不 起的事。我为你结网,因为我喜欢你。再说,生命到底是什么啊? 我们出生,我们活上一阵子,我们死去。一只蜘蛛,一生忙着捕捉 和吃苍蝇是毫无意义的,通过帮助你,也许可以提升一点我生命的 价值。谁都知道人活着该做一点有意义的事情。”
This is a valuable book. I think in an ideal world, should have only two people, one kind is the one who has read charlotte's web, another kind is the one who is going to read charlotte's web. Sometimes, when we wake up at night and touch our chest with the heart still beating, we will be very happy, because live means we can read charlotte's web again, and read charlotte's web means that he is still alive.
Fern looked after Wilbur.
Wilbur experienced an unsuccessful escape.
Wilbur felt veryost important friend Charlotte.

•Charlotte was practical, beautiful and skilled. She was clever and loyal(忠诚的) to her friends. she was the first to comfort Wilbur by assuring him she would save him when he found out that he was to be killed at Christmas time. Her love for Wilbur pushed her to save his life and she managed to produce a miracle. she singlehandedly managed to make the human see in Wilbur what she saw: a ‘terrific’ ‘radiant’ and‘humble’ pig. Throughout the tale she mothered Wilbur and looked after him as if he were her own. She worked tirelessly to save him and even though she was dying at the end of the novel, she motivated(激励) herself to write the words that would secure his safety.
