Arthur Hailey (April 5, 1920 – November 24, 2004)
• A British/Canadian novelist. • Born in Luton（卢顿）, England and was educated in English schools until age 14. • Served in the Royal Air Force from the start of the World War II in 1939. • Went to live in Canada in 1947 and then became a Canadian citizen. • Became a full-time writer in 1956， encouraged by the success of the CBC television drama——Flight into Danger 《 险中行》(which later became a movie and a novel, Runway Zero Eight).
• Following the success of Hotel in 1965, he moved to California. • In 1969, he moved to Lyford Cay in Bahamas with his wife, Sheila .
• In 1979，Arthur Hailey was discovered very ill and had a heart operation. The surgery was a tremendous success, leaving Mr. Hailey bursting with creative energy.
