Good morning, Ladies and Gentlemen. It’s my great honor to be here sharing my teaching ideas with you. I’m Jiang Yan from Central School of Lian Bin. I’m going to talk about page 47 and page 48, from 1a to 4b, Section B, Unit 6, Book 4, Go for it!I. Status and function of teaching materialFirst of all, I’d like to say something about the status and function of teaching material.The topic of this unit is about hobbies. In this unit students learn to talk about How long you have been doing things.And because the topic is very interesting and practical, it is useful and helpful for students to raise the learning interests of them.Section B introduces new vocabulary while recycling the target language presented in Section A. In this period all activities give students a chance to remember more vocabulary words. And students can also have an oral practice using the target language. Students can improve their reading skill by doing Activity 3a. Activity 3b provides students a chance to practice writing an e-mail message about hobbies. Activities 4a and 4b let students practice their speaking and listening skills in groups.II. The studentsSecondly I’d like to analyze the students.Students of this grade are really active. In fact, they are anxious to cooperate, compete and show themselves. However, they also need further improving. So it is the best time to help them make clear some confusional expressions in this unit. They may be confused about “How long have you been…?”and “How long did you …?”As a teacher, we can assist them to catch the difference. Though they are eager to improve their abilities, they are lack of confidence. They dare not to stand up and speak in class. Therefore giving a model may be a good way to let them open their mouths, and giving them more chances is necessary.III. Teaching and learning methods.As for the teaching and learning methods, in this lesson I’ll mainly use the task-based language teaching. Present the tasks by making a context with the help of the pictures, the multi-media and my gestures. In order to help students finish the tasks effectively, I’ll design activities as much as possible, such as a song, an interview, a guessing game and a memory game. And I’ll **municative language teaching as well. I’ll set up a real situation, in this way, the students can say in pairs or in groups, they can say freely and needn’t worrying about making mistakes. I’ll try all my best to provide them more chances to practice English.Besides, it’s a good idea for me to try a new teaching method ---- 5P teaching modes in this period. There are five parts belong to it, they are preparation, presentation, practice, production and progress.In addition, I’d like to have **petition and **petition and I’ll praise students from time to time.IV. Teaching AidsAs for teaching aids, in this lesson, the Computer Aided Instruction, some material objects such as shells, coins, stamps, IC cards, snow globes and a recorder will be needed. And students can take their collections to school and show them to their classmates.In the third place, I will discuss with you how I deal with the teaching aims, demands, key points and difficulties.Teaching Aims and Demands1. Knowledge objects(1) Key vocabulary.(2) Key structures.(3) Listening, speaking, reading and writing practice.2. Ability object(1) To train students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.(2) To train students’ ability of communication **prehension.3. Moral object(1) To be able to share our own collections with others.(2) To be able to talk about our daily life in English.4. Method objects(1) Listening and speaking methods.(2) Reading and writing methods.(3) **petence.Teaching Key Points1.How to use the structures “I collect…”, “I’d like to collect…” and “How longhave you been…” to talk about hobbies.2.Help students learn how to describe hobbies in details.Teaching Difficulties1.Make correct sentences using the target language in this period.2.How to tell others your hobby.A good teaching design is half success of the lesson. Now let’s share my teaching procedures. According to 5P teaching modes, there are 5 steps for the lesson. Teaching ProceduresStep I PreparationIn order to revise the knowledge and arouse the students’ interests of learning, this step will include some activities like doing exercises, listening to a song and playing a guessing game. First greet the class as usual and review the language points learnt last class by doing exercises. Students will listen to a song named toy collection later. Then they’ll be supposed to guess the name of the song and the meaning of word “collection”.Step II PresentationIn this step, students will learn some new words and target language presented in 1a. I’ll play a brainstorm and show some material objects to help students visualize the words. Then it’s time for students to remember them. And students will learn to use the new words in a real context.After that, they will have listening in 2a, 2b and 3a. 3a is designed to introduce different hobbies of children in other countries. And students can get a reading practice by learning it.Step III PracticeAfter presentation, we will practice in a real context using the new words and target language. I’ll a dopt **petition and **petition and encourage more students to take part in these activities. This part includes 1b, 2c and 3b. In Activity 1b and 2c, I’ll invite some students to read the sample conversation. I may give students some examples. Then have students do the activity in pairs. Finally ask several pairs to say their conversations to the class.In activity 3b, students get a great chance to practice writing. First, I’ll ask some students to read the sample conversation of this part. Then students finish writing the e-mail message by themselves. Later on some of them will be encouraged to read their answers in front of the class.Step IV ProductionFirst of all, students will work in groups to take a survey. In detail, a pair of students will be asked to read the sample dialogue in Activity 4a. Get students to do a survey and make a list of everyone’s hobby. Then students fill in the chart. They **plete the work in groups. Later let a few students to share the sample conversation.In Activity 4b, I’ll tell students they will discuss the four questions below in small groups. They can ask each other questions until they learn the answer to each question. Invite each group to say their answers to the class.Finally, after the survey, it’s the best time to relax. So I arrange a movie for them. It is attractive and stimulating activity, so the students would like to be attracted by it. In this step, students can not only learn to cooperate with others, but also review the knowledge learnt just now. And they will have a rest at the same time.Step V Progress**es the last step Progress. Small tests **e after remembering the words in 1a and the content in 3a for an immediate check. So I arrange a game for students. Fill in the blanks using the given expressions, translate some key words in English, look at the picture and guess, get the rewards, choose words to complete the sentences and make sentences using the two words. And after that students will be required to have a conclusion. Later is the homework. And in order to evaluate the class teaching and learning, each of students **plete the exercises on the guidance of learning paper.OK! That’s all for my presentation.
