2011年入选国家页岩气示范基地(The state of shale gas demonstration base)， 包括(including)：川东南彭水(PengShui)和黔南黄平-龙里-凯里区块 (HuangPing-LongLi-KaiLi blocks)，总面积(Total area)17804km2 彭水-仁怀为勘探主攻目标(Main aim area-PengShui-RengHuai) 面积(Total Area)6804km2，资源量(Resource Amount )2.84×1012m3。

2012年3月1日，国土资源部宣布:中国陆域页岩气地质资源潜力为134.42 万亿立方米，可采资源潜力为25.08万亿立方米（不含青藏区），主要分布 在四川盆地、渝东鄂西地区、黔湘地区即四川盆地及及周缘地区。
On March 1, 2012, the Ministry of land and Resources announced: the potential gas geological resources of China land shale is about 134.42 trillion cubic meters, the recoverable resource potential of 25.08 trillion cubic meters (not including the QinghaiTibet area ), is mainly distributed in the Sichuan Basin, Eastern Chongqing area, Guizhou and Hunan area
